We visit frequently both for drinks & food. Popped in late pm / early eve for Sunday lunch on a couple of occasions more recently. Thoroughly enjoyed the our Sunday roasts and the cordial welcome from staff. Really relaxed after the initial rush of lunch service and a great time to eat without the hustle & bustle of too many... Visited for the first time with friends on their recommendation. Staff were friendly and the service was good, although it was very quiet for a Saturday evening. The menu was varied and there was plenty of choice. Food was good although the lamb was under cooked. The food was reasonable but the drinks were expensive. A bit of a journey,... More

A great pub for dinner/lunch, we have eaten there several times in the past few months and wouldn't hesitate to give it a good rating. Attentive and polite staff, restaurant standard food and good beer. I wish I didn't have to drive! And a great beer garden when the sun is out. Tonight was a good example of a great... More

Had a lovely day here yesterday. We had a very successful large family gathering here 8 years ago and so decided to return for another one. Our group of 30 all had the £22 three course set menu which was delicious and had such generous portions it even defeated some of our teenage boys. Michael and Mary were SO accommodating... More

originally we were just going to compliment the pub for our annual MS BBQ event, but from seeing the comment about the landlord worrying about festival goers using the car park, I feel this needs to be justified. For the past four years we have held our annual summer BBQ at the hit or miss, around The same time as... More

Today an elderly friend and I came for Sunday lunch. What a fantastic place and the landlord was so obliging. Being elderly my friend needs to be tempted with her food. We had salmon fillet with a lemon proseco sauce with new potatoes and asparagus and peas. I asked if the vegetables could be served on a side dish in... More

Thank you for this lovely review. I'm delighted that your elderly friend so enjoyed the Salmon and we are more than happy to serve vegetables etc. as suits. It's great to hear that she felt it was the tastiest meal. Don't worry, we'll try to always find a space for you for future visits, although booking is always recommended. More

Wow, £7.50 for a pint of beer and a J20. No thanks - I don't think i'll be back again. Landlord more worried about festival goers using his carpark than serving us. A pity.

Thanks for this. Our prices are in line with similar local establishments, so I'm sorry if you're not used to those. You are right in that we were worried about the Festival goers filling our car park when we needed the spaces for our own customers, particularly the MS group using wheelchairs as we certainly did not want them having... There is a lovely beer garden with ample shade on warm evenings. A good choice of real ale. The food was really delicious. Some surprising sounding combinations were tasty. Goats cheese and caramelised pistachios, tempura prawns and mooli radish, Roquefort and peppercorn sauce. The steaks were excellent. I might even try the cured lamb steak next time after last night's... More

Thanks a lot for reviewing our pub. I'm glad you appreciate our beer garden and the various shade options offered. I'm also delighted that you found the food to be interesting and tasty. The home-cured lamb is proving very popular, so I hope you get a chance to try it again soon. More
