When you are in Xcalak don{t miss eating at the Leaky Palapa. The price is a little high for Mexico but the food is great and you would pay twice as much in a big US city for food as good. More

This is like some kind of time travel experience; outside, sand and beach, inside, food which compares to the best you can get in a slick Manhattan or London restaurant at very reasonable prices. Quite surreal: someone in the kitchen really knows their stuff. Steak was fantastic (comes from a specialist supplier) Lobster also really good. Fishy starter on sweet... More

First visit to the Leaky Palapa. With so many friends telling me how good it is, I really expected to be under-whelmed based on other recommendations. This place is adorably cute, the owner (Linda and Marla) are incredibly friendly and sweet, my filet was prepared to perfection, and the house margarita was the best I have had since moving to... The Leaky Palapa takes a very challenging situation and produces world-class dining. Linda and Marla love what they do, and you can see that with every lobster bite and smile from the wait staff. It's still hard to believe that a restaurant this good can spring up in a tiny fishing village with very little else going on. And at... More

World class food, prepared beautifully. We went for dinner 3 times during our 2 week stay. The menu was varied. Every dish we ordered was aesthetically pleasing in addition to tasting great. I felt like a glutton because I wanted to lick my plate. I'm already missing the crab/lobster cakes. More

Marla, the Chef, is a magician in the kitchen. Linda, the bartender, hostess, manager, and maintenance person has a contagious positive energy as she greets each patron by name as they enter and thanks them as they depart. The wait staff, Louiz and Christian, beam with smiles as they work to please. And at least once throughout the dining experience... More
