Dinner under the stars in the courtyard of a charming old hotel

Although it may seem a bit of a regular tourist destination, there were locals eating at this delightful central restaurant, part of the Hotel El Meson. Friendly, bustling service and delicious Mayan dishes, including prepared-at-the-table guacamole.

When a restaurant review must start off by praising the location and the convenient parking, gentle reader, you know how this will end. The service was exceedingly slow, we seemed not to have a single waiter assigned to us but were passed from one to the other, the food was average, and though we asked repeatedly, the bill took forever... Since we have dined here many times over the years, I'll keep this short. No hotel stay this time but enjoyed an 11:30 late breakfast on the courtyard edge. We were served immediately, menu is manageable, food was perfect even with special request, no crowds, just the sounds of the bubbling center fountain, soothing soft music with a few street... More

The restaurant is on the main square of Valladolid and features a beautiful garden. Food here is awesome and the waiters are very nice and helpfull with the menu, as they have some special dishes. We went there twice. :) You must try guacamole there. It's really good.

Went to check in at 2:30, was told to wait till 3. We ended up waiting 2 hours to check in - it was a nightmare and we were cranky and hungry. They keep saying to wait 20 minutes more. We would have dropped our luggage and went to dinner if we had known how long it would take. Room... More

Beautiful old hotel and a lovely courtyard for dining around. The cuisine was very good, probably our best dinners in Valladolid.Guacamole made at the table and extremely good. The first night we enjoyed the coconut shrimp, 7 very nice shrimp and the poc chuc, very flavorful grilled pork slices. The second night we had salmon, one was sauteed and had a finish... More

The venue itself is quite pleasing with a central fountain and sweeping dining room. The chain locking guests in and out, not so classy. The menu itself is quite large, too large. It took 15 minutes to figure out what to order, (all items had corresponding English translations) and then when it came time to order we were informed that... More

We have eaten here before and enjoyed our meals and the surroundings. Last night we ordered pasta primavera and carbonara. Both came with plain noodles and no cheese, cream sauce or flavouring. Very disappointing and very expensive for basically a bowl of noodles.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here in the beautiful courtyard of an old hotel. We were looked after well by the helpful and attentive staff. There was a great selection on the menu of both traditional local dishes and more 'western style' (?) options I had been ill prior to eating here so I ordered something 'safe' (just meat and...
