Found this restaurant while walking past and enjoyed a great traditional mexican meal- guacamole was amazing! Really attentive and friendly staff and the owner took the time to chat with us and gave us some recommendations for our further travels in the yucatan region. Clean dining area and toilets and had the option of sitting inside or out in the... More

This restaurante was recommended by our hotel desk for local food, late evening dinner. The restaurant has been there since 1910, and the building looks like it's been there much much longer. It was quite beautiful and romantic. Many Mexican revolution themed decorations, like a giant Poncho Villa wanted poster... Picture earthy red color walls, small enclosed courtyard area open... More

Food is good enough, staff is polite, place is clean. It's a bit tourist-trap like but, considering the low price and the fair quality, we would recommend it.

We went to this restaurant tonight because -to be honest- we couldn't find any other restaurants open. But we had a nice meal! We had chicken with coriander sauce and steak, and they were both really nice! We were pleasantly surprised as the restaurant looked really touristy and the menu seemed somewhat 'snacky' (lots of nachos and quesadillas on the... More

Went here based on the good reviews but this turned out to be a bit of a disappoinment. Actually the food turned out to be nothing out of the ordinary and you could have got the same dishes from a street vendor, only by half of the price. Food was lacking flavors and as they were lacking taste, they were... More

Not often do we go we take advantage of flyers being distributed on the street. What got us to go this time was that there was a free margarita being offered. Now that's not unusual but we had just been talking about wanting margaritas a few seconds before receiving the flyer offering us a free one at La Chispa. Fate... More

So i went to Valladolid with my girlfriend. The city is beautiful. However, what made us have the best time there was "La Chispa" and his owner Eduardo. Eduardo provided excellent service and great atmosphere. He asked us about our trips and our plans. He ended up changing our itinerary and was so worth taking advice from him. Our next... More

We were on the square during Carnival and decided not to eat street food. A policeman directed us to La Chispa for which we were grateful. The place was empty because everybody was in the square so we have the undivided attention of a fine young waiter who spoke excellent English and loved telling the stories of how Valladolid played... My wife and I have eaten here during several visits to Valladolid initially itcwas hard to find until you have been ther once as it is 1/2 block off the main square the food while good does not go to any higher level and is largely yucatec food that you find in most restaurants in town while the service is... It took my 3rd visit to Valladolid to finally find a good restraunt and La Chispa was it. I was even traveling with my vegetarian daughter who doesn't like a lot of the vegetables, which makes it extra difficult. Edurado took the time to find out exactly what she does and does not like and then made his recommendations. He... More
