Exactly what can you expect when you go to a local restaurant in a fishermen village: fresh products, personal service and good portions and a very cold beer.

Great people, yummy shimp cocktail and the guys even climbed a coconut tree to make us great Coco Loco. While we were on the beach the staff was eating a giant bowl of Ceviche, when they saw us looking over they brought us a nice plate full "on the house" it was to die for.

We had lunch on the beach after talking with Cane our server on the malecon. He had the manager get us some free welcome margaritas and we ordered fish fajitas and a special steak dish. The fish was great, the steak dish was not as good as the fish, but not bad. I think staying with the local seafood and... More

While in Costa Maya during a cruise, we headed over to Mahahual for the day rather than sitting at the cruise tourist village. In Mahahual, the wonderful beach is lined with bar after bar, all offering the same thing - free lounge chairs, wifi, and shade on the beach - with the expectation that you will order drinks and lunch.... We spent 5 days Mahahual during Holy Week, and discovered El Capitan Mono... We were hooked! They have the best beach, friendly staff, excellent food & drinks, and great prices!!! My husband loves shrimp, and the shrimp gratinados was his favorite... Who couldn't love fresh shrimp right from the sea, wrapped in bacon & smothered with melted cheese??? The serving... More

Got back to the ship after an excursion and had several hours before we sailed so we put on our swim suits and headed for the cab stand. $2 per person for the short ride to town and the beach...great. Well the driver took us to an alley where we were promptly greeted by someone connected to one of the... More

We were visiting my parents who live in the region. We had decided to go to Majahual on a Sunday. Every time we go to Mexico were there is a beach my wife and the rest of my family always wants to eat fresh fried fish. This was the exception; when we arrived we first cruised the town to see...
