Still Excellent

My husband and kids ages 11-17 rented a house in Akumal for the third year in a row and have eaten almost everywhere. The public side of Akumal is safe and definitely our favourite places to eat. The new owners are very friendly and the food is still as good as it always has been. I had the coconut... read more

We like to frequent restaurants owned by the local people. This is a hidden gem across the hwy from main touristy Akumal. Gilbert who is the new owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had his special ribs and they were great tasting along with fried potatoes and salad. Super great beer and food prices. A quick... More

Small, with plastic chairs and tables. Hot and humid when crowded. So if you go with a group or it is busy than expect the food to be longer. Not an issue when you can get the cold beer at a great price. Use to go when Ken from Toronto owned it. Will go this March when I am down... More

No longer Canadian owned but a super nice local owns it and food great ! Wonderful Burger with pork and beef seasoned perfectly and homemade fries. Had a slab of ribs too which my ten year old loved . Sauce a little sweet but good. Delicious mixed salad and good margs. Really reasonable prices. Pleasantly surprised !

I've spent time here yearly since they first opened and I couldn't think of a more fun place that is more unique to this area! Mexican food, cold beers and other drinks, a fully stocked bar, rock music, North American culture mixed with local, karaoke on occasion, good prices, stellar staff.

This quaint local restaurant is located on the "pueblo" side of Akumal. It is simple in appearance but is worth the trip. The prices are great compared to the high prices of the beach side restaurants. It is not unusual to see several expats eating here. We expats always know the best places to dine on a budget. I highly... More

I've been living and traveling in Mexico for several months and just recently stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. I've eaten here three times and can highly recommend the spinach salad as well as the veggie burger. The guacamole is excellent as well! I am not a vegetarian myself, but I have been trying to eat as many fruits... More

We went back once again to Tequilaville and were not disappointed. Ken is no longer there and it is now Gilbert who is in charge and he is doing a great job. Although you can no longer make free phone calls to Canada it is still the place to go for a great meal. Once again I had the coconut... More

This place is still a bare bones restaurant with wonderful burgers and better fries than the last time I was there. Service was excellent and the beer cold and cheap. The burgers are good and so are the Fajitas. Some days they have ribs and they were fabulous, not all sweet and gooey like in the states.

It was so good the first time, we went back for a second meal here...and it was just as good. The service and hospitality are also excellent. They offer both authentic Mexican dishes and some Americanized dishes too...and both are excellent! Very good food at a reasonable price, in a non traditional tourist little village. Well worth making the extra... More
