Altho this restaurant is listed in Cancun, it actually is on the main road across from Half Moon Bay in Akumal, Mexico. It is newly opened and
has excellent, inexpensive food. Gina, who runs the restaurant makes
the best guacamole this side of Guadalajara & her pita rellenos are
the best! She is open from 12 noon to 8 p.m. and also delivers!
What more could you ask for! Enjoy this delicious menu without leaving the beach!

I had the deep fried lion fish, it was excellent. The fish they had just caught earlier in the day, wonderful.

Having heard that this was THE place to join the fight against reef depredation and eat lionfish, we decided to do our bit. It would have been better had the food not been practically inedible. The owner seemed personally insulted when we were unable to "clean our plates" and became loud and combative. We decided to cut our losses, paid... More

We missed eating a Gynn AK last year, so were eager to try it when we returned to Akumal this month. Although the sign said best deal in Akumal, it was the most expensive meal we had there. The menu had no prices the night we went. When they were cooking the meal it smelled delicious, but it was so... More

I can honestly say the lionfish fillet with thai/mex fusion is one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. Yes...the place looks like a dive...mismatched tables, dirt floor, dogs under the table. But...then your food arrives, and all you can think about is how delicious it is! The chef is fun to talk to...she has an... More

Gynna told me a couple of months ago that this was going to be her last season due to a landlord problem. Unfortunately, I think things may have come to an end. As I passed her place tonight half of the front of the place has been dismantled and she was not open for business. Her opening and closings have... More

We were excited to eat Lionfish, but food was just not good. The setting was not nice and the food was worse. There is virtually no menu, just lionfish taco's and burgers, you can't even get a soda. Perhaps Lionfish is hard to prepare and not very tasty, but there was FAR to much salt on our tacos, we could... More

Overpriced, small portions, sit in a gravel park lot next to the street under a falling down palapa or tent. Originally this was a neat local place with local food. The cook got a big head and tried to get fancier. How much is enough ginger on/in your food. The employees seemed ok, the manager/owner is a bit special. It... More

My family of 4 ate dinner at Gynn'AK while visiting Akumal in December and were disappointed in the Lion Fish tacos. Note that we had eaten lunch there a few years back and were wowed by them. The newer chef changed what was an awesome, fresh lion fish filet, into a ground up mess that was inedible. The mole chicken... More
