Great afternoon Snack or Drinks

Took my family to Akumal Beach for a day trip from Playa Del Carmen. Late afternoon we were looking for a quaint location for light fare. We checked a number of restaurants looking for something to tide us over until dinner and came across La Cueva Del Pescador. As a part time Playa Del Carmen... read more

My husband and I brought our five kids ages 11-17 to Akumal for the third year in a row. We have eaten in almost every restaurant and La Cueva is hands down the best stop for fish dinner. It's not on the menu but a couple of our kids wanted fries with their fish and they accommodated them. We also... More

Had fish which was very nice (wasn't really full when we were done eating). The kids just had a plate of rice that they made even though it wasn't on the menu- very nice of them. The setting is really cool, cosy, friendly. If you want to hang out for drinks it's also the place to be

We love this place for lunch or a casual dinner Great lime soup and seafood. Beware that the mosquitos will eat you alive at certain times of the day (after dark) in certain seasons, so cover up or bring repellent

We were looking forward to dining here after recommendations from friends, whose judgement I respect. All started very well with a very enthusiastic waiter's claim for "the best Margarita in Akumal!", which was a supportable claim. That was about the high point of the service, though in fairness, the place was packed. I did manage to catch his attention again... More

Booked a fishing trip from the restaurants captain and went out the next day. All 4 of us caught fish 3 mahi and 1 barracuda. came back to the restaurant later that night and the cooked it up several different ways and made ceviche, some of the best fish we have had anywhere and we live on the ocean, barracuda... Had lunch there yesterday. The service was good. The food almost as good as last year when we were there, but the cost per item has increased substantially. This said, it did not seem to matter as the place was packed. When we first found the restaurant it seemed more populated by locals. Now the visitor is prominent. Hence the... More

We ate here last night after a day of snorkeling and relaxing. La Cueva is a lively spot filled with Americans. BUT, the food is great, the service is professional and the margaritas flowing. Most at the table had the seafood platter, yummy and even the coleslaw is tasty. I had steamed fish stuffed with seafood...rich tasting yet light. There... More

Seafood shack near the beach vibe. Personally I have had lobster, grilled and breaded fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, chicken quesadillas, salsa and guacamole with chips and chicken fajitas here. Everything was tasty and we went 3 times on our 8 day trip. Alcohol drinks are well priced for the location and service is speedy. Don't forget to ask for your... More

One of the fisherman on Akumal Beach recommended this restaurant to my wife (she speaks Spanish) & we were not disappointed. Some of the best ceviche I have ever eaten & the fish was cooked to perfection. You can hire a boat to take you out fishing & arrange to have this restaurant cook it for you for a small... More
