I have eaten at Cuevo many times with mixed service and food quality and some "interesting" experiences including a fist sized spider falling from a tree onto the table during dinner. I had some pretty good octopus, and have continued to try fish done in different ways with no happy results. I know they get the fish fresh as I've... more

La Cueva came highly recommended by some users of another travel site. We were very excited to try it and it did not disappoint. I had fish tacos and my friend had garlic butter grilled shrimp. Both were fantastic. My friend said her shrimp was the best shrimp she's ever had. My margarita was SO good and SO strong all... more

We went here for dinner in June 09. This was low season and a month after the swine flu scare. We could tell some places had laid off staff, but it didn't seem the case here. It seemed our waiter was too busy with the table of friends he sat down with for most of our meal. We had to... more

We ate one dinner here... the seafood was fresh and nicely prepared. We would definitely eat here again. Setting is nice, right in the middle of Akumal. Very enjoyable and good margaritas as well :) more

We ordered lighter fare as we had reservations at Que onda and server didn't like that too much. Food was good though. He ended up not coming back to our table and we had to go ask someone for things and then later for the check. The restaurant next door Turtle Bay Bakery was very good for breakfast. Lol Ha... more

The staff here is always smiling and the food was great, we ate here 3 times for lunch or dinner while we were in Akumal. As others have mentioned, they don't skimp on the liquor here - margaritas are great! I almost always got the combo platter which has shrimp, mini lobster, octopus, and fish. They do it the right... more

Carlos and staff will make you a stunning seafood dinner! The baby lobster and grilled octopus are to die for! One heck of a Chicken lime soup as well for those who may be feeling a touch of Montezuma! The liquor flows freely and very generously I might add! I highly recommend the Bacardi Anejo con Agua Gasificado! Extra Lime. more

The Cave of the Fisherman--fabulous! We ate there five out of nine nights! Great staff--they fish twice a day in Akumal Bay. We met a couple on our second night, then decided to go out with them (also another couple went out in a second boat) followed by a feast of our catch that evening. The fish fillets (garlic butter... more
