Great Local Lunch Spot

We visit Akumal twice a year and always have lunch at Imelda's. The price is reasonable, the food is local home cooking, and the service is great. My favorite is the fish fillet with rice and beans. Delicious.

A very simple eatery with a small menu. Good home cooking and quick friendly service. No frills but enjoyed the simplicity. Chicken fajitas with rice and beans made a light lunch between snorkel sessions.

We visited Imelda's on a Tuesday night. There were 4 of us, and we all ordered different things. Everything was very good, and Imelda and her staff were so friendly and accommodating. We wanted to try some authentic Mayan food this trip, so Imelda offered to prepare some Chicken Pibil for us if we agreed to return on Thursday. We... More

So far in our stay in Akumal I've had the pleasure of trying four of Imelda's dishes; Chicken with Mole sauce, Beef Fajitas, Chicken Fajitas and Veggie Stir Fy. All very good. Not haute cuisine, but great, honest food. They have a breakfast and a lunch menu, and offer take out as well. Very reasonably priced (for Akumal) at $85MXN.... More

Hidden gem, everything Imelda cooks is wonderful. This is a casual quaint little place, but you really shouldn't pass it by.

Small super casual beachy cafe. The coffee was good even though it was rustic, and I guess they put vanilla and sugar in the French toast - it's really good.

For years, on our twice annual visits to Akumal, we've been going to Imelda's for lunch. My favorite dish is chicken fajitas. The portions and prices are reasonable and the food is always good. The charm is unbeatable.

This is a quiet and hidden restaurant no too far from Akumal beach with a local feel to it. Most choices come with rice, beans and tortillas and prices range from 90-120 pesos per dish. We had the fried fish which was very yummy. This is a great place for lunch and definitely recommend it.

We have been coming to Akumal for over 20 years. My kids (now 18 and 15) always want to go to Imeldas on the first morning for the french toast. They both love it! I always get scrambled eggs and beans. It is served with fresh tortillas. The service is great, and it is great to support the small restaurant.... More
