I travel to Val Verde County every year in late December/early January. A staple for years. Incredible margaritas, yes, cheesy (pun intended) name, but the "super nachos" really were simplicity but lots of it and the little chunks of carne asada sprinkled on top were mouthwatering. If that wasn't enough, their carnie assada plate had generous chunks of meat with... More

I am so sad to hear of Ma Crosby's closing. As a member of the US Air Force stationed in Del Rio I had the awesome pleasure to visit this establishment numerous times. I left Del Rio in 1989 and moved back to Alabama hoping one day to return for another visit. Sadly that looks like it won't be possible.... More

Effective 12/31/11, Ma Crosby's has ceased operation. We enjoyed a great lunch there on 12/23/11 and when we went back on 1/5/12, we found it closed. The parking facility is expected to re-open by mid-January but the restaurant and bar, at least for now, are out of business. Rumors that the Ramos family is attempting to sell the facility to... Having visited Crosbys for years I was concerned when I read some of the recent comments. Not sure to believe them as I was planning a visit, I contacted the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce. I was told that they were still open and not sure why these rumors were circulating. With that info I headed south and walked across... More

It is a real shame that the drug cartels have destroyed the local tourist business in these wonderful border towns like Acuna. Crosbys is a mainstay since the 1920's with excellent food and atmosphere that I have visited annually for the last 15 years riding motorcycles from Houston to Del Rio for our annual Acuna weekend. The US media has... More

Growing up in Dallas, TX, I had an aunt that lived in Del Rio, and we had the great luck to visit once or twice a year. As I became an adult, and my aunt's health started to fade, these trips to Del Rio became monthly, and even more often. I never minded, because not only did I love my... More

In 6 to 8 weeks Crosby's will be no more. I have not been and feel the need to hurry over there ASAP! I just moved to Del Rio and EVERYBODY talks about this place alot. Acuna, Mexico is supposed to be the safest border town in all of Mexico. They are not having the violence other border cities are... More

When my husband and I lived in San Angelo, Texas we used to drive to 2 1/2 to 3 hours to ciudad acuna just to eat at Crosby's. They make a plate of super nachos that are so very good. They look simple but have great flavor. On top of the tortillas, cheese, beans and guacomole they put bits of... More

If so fortunate to visit Ciuad Acuna, make sure to dine at Crosby's during your stay. You will feel most welcome and satisfied with a great meal. If you remember, ask the management when they will reopen Crosby's Hotel ... which has been closed for a time and therefore not possible to stay and make this historical place the base... More
