What a beautiful location! La Gruta is located in the base of a cave and can get very packed on weekends. We went for comida (3 PM) and the place was ghost town. We ordered food and had trouble getting 3 split checks as in most Mexican restaurants. We understand that's not the way people in Mexico do things, but... More

After a long visit to teotihuacan's pyramids, the only place that is worth stopping for a beer or even lunch is this one. It is 50 m or less from entrance number 5. This restaurant is set up in a cave. Quality of food is not bad, service could be better but considering where you are it is ok. It's... More

This place is definitely worth a look. The concept is interesting, but the food is ordinary and expensive (plus surcharge just to be in the cave).

We came here after seeing he yelp reviews. All excellent. Service started out excellent. We ordered drinks and escamoles - Aztec ant caviar. The ant larvae were excellent and worth the adventure. My prickly pear (tuna) margarita didn't have a hint of tequila. For comida my sons ordered the rabbit and lamb in leaves. Both excellent. I had the cecino-... More

The location is very unusual and quite an experience. It is a fairly large grotto and holds many people on several different levels. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there was folkloric entertainment on the stage. It was quite busy that day but we only had about a five minute wait. The food was good. We shared guacamole... This restaurant is terribly overpriced and the quality of the food is quite low. The restaurant is located outside of Gate 5, just behind the Pyramid of the Sun. You can leave and come back into the ruins without an issue. The food here was not that great. We ordered cactus soup, ant eggs and chicken with huitlacoche. The soup... More

The service was not bad at all, unlike some of the reviews here. Food was not bad either. Price is acceptable given the atmosphere and setting. It's definitely worth the try.

We stopped at the cave for a delightful lunch. The ambiance was perfect: nice Mexican music, nice decor, great service with excellent food. The perfect getaway from a long hot hike. It's a little pricey, gut a nice retreat from the sun after hiking. We left happy and refreshed.
