Delicious food but not worth the wait

La Gruta is set into some beautiful natural caverns. However, during Semana Santa, the long waitlist and overworked servers did not make this a worthwhile place to eat. Stopped by in the afternoon to check it out, Looked interesting so made a reservation for a group of eight for the following day at five PM. Arrived in a severe rainstorm, left standing with no cover, place was packed only to find they don't actually take reservations. Took 20 minutes for a hostess to inform us that there would... More

After touring the pyramids, dinner in a giant hole in the side of a mountain was the perfect end to the day. The food was mostly good and the service was excellent.

i will be very very careful since this site doesn't allow me to express my true opinion! A true horror with the most disgusting food and service it is a shame because the locale is unique but everything is by far the worst food that I've tried in my life...we ordered barbacoa and mixiotes and all of who eat the... It is near the pyramids and after visiting the pyramids we went here. It is so unique to have a meal in a cave. The building was great, the food was tasty but the service was terrible. I first ordered a bottle of wine. I asked for a recommendation and was directed towards the most expensive bottle of wine on... More

I visited this restaurant last week (2nd week of March) and as everytime I visit it, I get amazed with the beauty of the natural cave, which was very well taken in advantage by the owners of the restaurant. Points to consider? The service is great, from the hostess to the waiter, always good. The food: very good without being... More

After viewing the pyramids this restaurant was a nice experience. We did not have reservations but were seated in under an hour. We were able to watch the live dancing show from outside the cave. Beer was served while we waited. I ordered cactus salad. There was not much to it. But the chips served with all meals tasted homemade... More

It isn't very often you get to eat inside of a huge cave. The outside courtyard entrance has lush flowers and quiet sitting areas. The menu had interesting cave type creations (bugs, worms, etc) as well as other amazing gourmet food at a decent price. Live music happens on Fridays and Saturdays.

Overpriced and made for tourists. Nice location inside a cave, though. We had better food in other places around the site
