Great setting, good food

Four of us ate at La Una twice this week. The setting is lovely, two blocks from the plaza in Ajijic, in a garden setting with well-spaced tables and plenty of umbrellas to shield from the sun. The menu is extensive though confusing -- for example the beef selections are scattered throughout... read more

We went here with friends for their fixed price Valentine's dinner. It was tasty and portions were good but it lacked in the overall presentation and had no "wow" factor.

La Una has recently moved to a new location, and with it they have created a new look Sunday brunch that is superb. Sit outside in the garden or inside in a spacious and airy room, and indulge in almost anything your heart desires: fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, eggs any way you please (including an eggs bennie to die for),... eaten there 3 times in the last month. Breakfast, brunch and dinner and tried the new chefs specials each time and they they all been excellent. My description would be Yucatan fusion, not really a great fan of Mexican food but this is different and we like it. 50/50 Mexican, gringo customers

Thanks for giving us the great review. We are glad that you like it. Our new chef has made a lot of new contributions which will be available from the new comida menu coming out this next week. Douglas More

Had Tapas. Not much food for a high cost compared to other restaurants. Also had a Caesar salad which was just some flat Romaine lettuce leaves with a dressing on top.

Had late evening appetizers and wine. Description of food items sounded good but were misleading and did not measure up to their boastful claims. Small portions can be ok but not when they are poorly prepared. Must say that entrees served at next table looked better. Waiter was not very knowledgeable.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a review. I do apologize for your unsatisfactory experience. I must admit that we are still making adjustments to our new size, location and staff. I will also say that it is ambition that makes business happen and without it not much would change in our world. Three years ago I... More

My wife and I went there for a special dinner. We had the three for 100 pesos tapas, two of which were good, one was mediocre. My wife ordered the lamb chops, I had the fillet mignon, both medium. Her lamb chops were undercooked, my fillet mignon was cold in the middle. Both of our vegetables were under cooked. The... More

Thanks for taking the time to review Restaurante La Una. It sounds like we had an undercooking chef. At least it wasn't overcooked. I promise that if you come back, we will do better. Douglas More

Four of us went to this place for dinner after it moved from across the street. The food was good. I was warned that they add a service charge so check the bill before adding a tip. When they brought the check my friend checked it over first and said there was no service charge. I checked it and found... More

This restaurant was recommended to us while vacationing in Ajijic. Their special dinner for Christmas Eve included lobster, duck and tenderloin, one of the best meals ever!!! We sat by the fireplace and found the atmosphere to be excellent and so very cozy, that we ended up staying there much longer than we had anticipated. We decided to return a... More
