I absolutely loved this place and am so glad my friend and I discovered it...so much so that I had drinks and dinner at "4" my last three nights in Ajijic. Thanks Gabriella for the incredible experience! The food was outstanding, the service and staff were impeccable, the entertainment was perfect, and the pricing so reasonable. You made my guest... Our evening of fine dining at 4 was like an unfunny Mr Bean skit. Seated by a glum receptionist, greeted by a handsome and pleasant waiter who handed out menus and took our drink order. Room was cold and dark, so dimly lit that menus were hard to make out. Couple next to us were using lights on their cellphones.... More

Lovely atmosphere, of course. We were not very hungry so we ordered 2 appetizers and a soup. The lettuce wrap had very little lettuce and a lot of indistinguishable stuff inside. the Coconut shrimp---they were out of (it was an early dinner--maybe 6:15 pm on a Saturday night) the chicken on skewers were good with an asian twist to the... Thank you for taking the time to give your opinion. Lettuce Wrap: well that’s what it is, the lettuce is the “shell”, and you have the complete description of what is inside on our menus (both in English and in Spanish). We do have several salads which feature much more lettuce, please check our menus for more information. We only... More

The food is good. Not great but good. The service is okay. The restaurant is in desperate need of a face lift so the ambiance is certainly nothing to write home about. But the prices are outrageous. And not just by village standards but by North American 5 star standards. I can't remember the last time I paid so much... More

The vast majority of constructive criticism is done during one’s experience, as the staff has an opportunity to correct what might not be right and/or to enhance a guest’s experience. There is always room for improvement: we have comments cards and a floor manager. However, one should always take negative reviews after the fact with a grain of salt. Prices... More

I really love this place. They do everything right. The food is soooo good! It is the type of food you want to savor and enjoy every bite. The service was perfect. The waiter brought us everything just as we had asked for. Our overall experience was very impressive!

Thank you for sharing your opinion. “overrated” by who? Definitely not by you since you seem satisfied with everything (but the parking) but still give us a bad rating anyway. Yes, it is true a lot of patrons park in the vicinity, but we offer Valet Parking (it is complementary). “overpriced” compared to what? Maybe you did not realize that... More

On a very rainy night, when most people stayed in.....we went to an early dinner (6:30pm). Parking spot right out side the door, and the "Umbrella Valet" was right there to walk us to the foyer of the restaurant. We shared oysters on the half shell, fresh and delicious, and not too big....they way I like them. Then we shared... More

The urban/contemp feel of this restaurant is chilly at best. The service is young and a bit forced, not subtle. The bar serves excellent martinis while the kitchen does an ok seared tuna appetizer. The main courses were average. We ordered a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin to lift our spirits, which got us through the evening.

First of all, thank you for sharing your opinion. The entire “4” team is so proud that it is “not what it used to be” as they have all worked very hard to definitely change and improve what is was. Actually, the only thing that was kept was specifically the different “feel” of the restaurant as it was the best... More

We go to this restaurant on special occasions to celebrate birthdays or wedding anniversaries. They have different shows at night like jazz or piano. Excellent food. Last couple of times we were there, the menu seemed different which is a good thing. It gives variety and you can try different dishes. It is rather expensive, but it's worth it.

We went at 7:15 pm on a Saturday night. We were told by the waitress that music would start at 8 pm. We bought a couple of STRONG drinks and enjoyed the African-inspired ambiance. It was more than a few minutes after 8 when the musicians arrived and would be at least another half hour before they'd begin. We were... More

First of all, thank you for sharing your opinion. Then, we do not want readers to be misled: While there are palapas upstairs and bamboos in the garden, “4” simply does not have an African inspired ambiance. It’s French/European bistro downstairs and Pacific Coast upstairs. At any given time, we have 6 to 8 wines BTG and 50 BTB, which... More
