I live on Cape Cod, so I know fresh fish. And I haven't had anything that was as good as the fish-and-chips at Capitaine Pouf! I went with my friend Edward, who lives in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and he wisely recommended the "small" portion, which was quite big enough ... but so excellent! The batter was crisp and the fish below flaky... More

Visited on recommendation of Hotel staff during stop over in St Jean sur R. - and very glad we did! The place was absolutely packed out with locals (always a good sign!) - we managed to get the last table tucked into one corner. Staff were very friendly and somewhat amused by my poor attempt at schoolboy French! Went for... More

Ask anyone where to get good fish and chips near or in St-Jean and they'll immediately tell you to go to Capitain Pouf. Simple menu of mainly fish and steak. You can have your fish pan fried or deep fried. The calamari hors d'oeuvre is excellent. Good value and portions for the price. The last time we went 4 of... More

I had people recommending this place for fish and chips so we had to try it. These were the best fish and chips I have ever have in Quebec! Didnt enjoy to eat outside next to smokers but fish and chips are delish!

The fish & chips at this restaurant is the most delicious. It helps that you have a view absolutely wonderful over the canal. Be prepared, the plates are big. It's Worth the try.
