An expensive but wonderful wedding anniversary meal

My wife and I have been coming to the Manoir Richelieu hotel in Quebec's Charlevoix region since 2003 and so it was fitting that we ate dinner in the Charlevoix restaurant to mark our 20th wedding anniversary. It wasn't cheap: the total we paid was $550 Canadian, which included two glasses of... read more

Was way too expensive for what it was, close to 100$ for two an appetizer two mains and 2 drinks. Food was good. But desert was horrible. Sent it back. It was a frozen from a box old hard as a rock chocolate cake. Or at least tasted like that.

What a delightfully Old World European experience...breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and the gorgeous gardens and landscaping, an amazing waitstaff, and most importantly...a great menu. We sat inside to partake of the air conditioning as it was unseasonably warm. They do have an amazingly beautiful terrace with al fresco dining. Located in the historic and world reknowned (architectually... More

Had dinner at the restaurant and chose the 4 course day menu. Courses were good except the main course. It was fried lobster, which was tough and had the lack of taste of frozen lobster. The service was excellent, but the main course was very disappointing for such an expensive restaurant.

I'm from Quebec and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Canada. When a restaurant advertises a 4 to 5 star rating, you expect something more... Unfortunately, our experience was something less... I was with two collegues and the opinion was unanimous: below average. The scallops were too cooked, the shrimps were rubberry, the rack of lamb sauce... More

The restaurant benefits from beautiful viwn and has a very friendly staff. It delivers decent, if pretentious, food. but the pricing is absolutely outrageous.

The ambience, The food, the service and the wine were outstanding. We had the 4 course Taster's menu. Every course came with a superb accompanying wine selection. The food was cooked to perfection. The wine was excellent. Mr bernard, the head waiter, provided amazing information on the food, wine, the hotel and the area. Amazing Service, Amazing food. It was... More

The Maitresse d' was very welcoming, the wait staff were as well. The selection of breads on offer were excellent. That's it. The orchid on the table could have used fresher water.....My daughter's pasta was all dried out from sitting under a heat lamp, the red wine was cold - I refused it before it was opened (I could see... Like a fine Swiss watch the "Charlevoix" at Manior Richlieu continues to amaze me on every visit to this unique part of Quebec. Located in a Fairmount Hotel, on the St. Lawrence and a six hour drive for me. To begin with the Charlevoix will try and use ingredients of the Charlevoix region from foie gras to cheese. I can...
