We found this place via Trip Advisor. Glad we did. Great salads and sandwiches. Good prices. Lots of choices. Nice interior. Would definitely recommend this place. It's not in town but right on the highway south by 5 miles.

We had planned to stop right in Baddeck for lunch on our way back to Halifax from the Cabot Trail, but had read great reviews so came to the Herring Choker Deli. I am so glad we travelled on to Nyanza for these sandwiches. There was something on the menu for all eight of us (two families). I had the... More

The Herring Choker is right on the main highway (the 105) and so is very convenient for a stop. This deli and Cafe serves great sandwiches and wraps that are imaginative and delicious. Be prepared to pay a bit for this - typical large sandwich on home made bread will run about $9.95 and with NS and Federal tax the... More

I had the BLT with mayo & honey mustard on oatmeal bread. Was very delightful. Best sandwich ever. I will definitely be back soon. :-)

We stopped three separate times to eat the lobster sandwich here. Great pastry, coffee too. Wi- fi and newspapers, an outdoor deck looking at the water across the street. Musician entertaining once too. Find it!

I absolutely love The Herring Choker. The atmosphere is wonderful with a beautiful view of the Bras D'or lake. You can watch while your food is prepared. There is a great assortment of home made bread and sweets. I had their vegetable wrap and I can truly say that is was the best sandwich that I have ever had. Their... More

Stopped here twice to pick up lunch; once for the Cabot Trail & once for our way home. Gave us an ice pack to keep our sandwiches fresh till lunch. Delicious sandwiches and fabulous blueberry scones the size of a lumberjack's hand (or perhaps a "herring-choker's = fisherman's hand)!
