Service is very personal and staff remember your favourites. Great lunches, soups, and salads. They also make sugar free oatcakes for people watching their blood sugar. We try to stop in whenever we are in Cape Breton.

First of all, for those looking for the Herring Choker Deli, this restaurant is actually 13 km west of Baddeck, in Nyanza. That said, the sandwiches were very good and the staff was very friendly. We shared a club sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were toasted on their Panini press, which was great. The club was really good,... More

The sandwiches were dry, salad was wilted and not tasty. The food was not worth the price we paid. Ordering was confusing too.

We had a lobster sandwich and a turkey sandwich, both excellent and a good portion. We recommend both the white bread and the oat bread. The deli could use more sides (how about some potato chips) and a wider selection of canned beverages. The service was very friendly and the surroundings were pleasant.

On our way to Alexander graham bell museum read the reviews and decided to stop. Had a delicious lunch and bought some oatmeal bread and oatcakes. Would recommend.

We come here often because it is everyone in our extended family's favorite lunch. Everything is high quality: the produce, the meats & cheeses, and the fresh bread. Whether it's the lobster on white bread (best in the region which is saying something!), the veggie special on multigrain, the Herring Choker Club (also on multigrain which is my absolute favorite)... Great grilled sandwiches and gluten free chocolate cake. The prices were a bit high but we were on vacation so didn't mind too much.

We found this place via Trip Advisor. Glad we did. Great salads and sandwiches. Good prices. Lots of choices. Nice interior. Would definitely recommend this place. It's not in town but right on the highway south by 5 miles.

We had planned to stop right in Baddeck for lunch on our way back to Halifax from the Cabot Trail, but had read great reviews so came to the Herring Choker Deli. I am so glad we travelled on to Nyanza for these sandwiches. There was something on the menu for all eight of us (two families). I had the... More
