Amazing scones and great coffee

Sometimes out sightseeing it is difficult to find a really good cup of coffee and amazing pastry. The High wheeler has both, my wife and I stopped there yesterday (5/19/15). Outside eating area, on main street of town, well worth the stop.Scones are amazing and coffee was really good!

Beautiful sandwiches & wraps. Healthy and fresh with tons of flavour. We had chicken wraps, sweet potatoe soup and BLT sandwiches. Bread is soft and sweet, veggies were crisp and flavourful and the soup was absolutely delicious!

Great food. The baked goods alone were worth the visit. We brought some home, including a bag of spelt cookies - delicious!

I spend 3-5 weekends in Baddeck/Middle River area from July-October each year and I make it a priority to stop in at the highwheeler daily when I am visiting. I enjoy their Mocha with their freshly baked mixed berry scones. I've tried various sandwiches, bagels and other pastries they offer and have never been disappointed. Sometimes there is a line... We stayed 3 nights in Baddeck where breakfast was included in our hotel rate. But when it came to lunch, we repeatedly went to the High Wheeler Cafe where everything was homemade and delicious. Sometimes the line was out the door, but by the time your food was ready, a table would be available for the 6 of us Americans... More

When we discovered that the hotel across the street had abandoned breakfast service, we decided to give the Wheeler a try--I had previously visited it to buy my Globe and Mail and/or a bottled drink. The breakfast menu is limited--maybe four items. But we discovered they are quite nice--both traditional meat-and-eggy things as well as a salmon bagel with capers.... More

The cafe was very busy the day we arrived for lunch. Hoping to eat quickly, we ordered only soup -- but it took nearly a half hour for the waiter to bring it to our table. Once served, it was delicious. No clue as to whether the restaurant was short-staffed that day or whether things need a little reorganization to... More

All the food here is made fresh and brought to your table, though you order at the counter and help yourself to (delicious) coffee and teas. A good range of breakfast and lunchtime food which was all very wholesome and palatable. Much-used by local as well as tourists which is always a good sign. Heartily recommended.

After visiting Bell’s Historic site, we were on our way to Cheticamp via Cabot Trail. However, we realized we would need to stop for lunch along the way. Instead of stopping, we decided to buy something in Baddeck and eat along the way to save time. Highwheeler was rated highly on TripAdvisor so we decided to buy our sandwiches here.... More

During our stay in Baddeck I took a walk around the waterfront and downtown each morning. Before I went back to the B&B I would stop here to get treats for later. They have the best cinnamon buns I have tasted. Also my wife raved about the scones. You should try this cafe when you are in the Baddeck area.
