Crowded but worth the wait

When we discovered that the hotel across the street had abandoned breakfast service, we decided to give the Wheeler a try--I had previously visited it to buy my Globe and Mail and/or a bottled drink. The breakfast menu is limited--maybe four items. But we discovered they are quite nice--both traditional meat-and-eggy things as well as a salmon bagel with capers.... More

The cafe was very busy the day we arrived for lunch. Hoping to eat quickly, we ordered only soup -- but it took nearly a half hour for the waiter to bring it to our table. Once served, it was delicious. No clue as to whether the restaurant was short-staffed that day or whether things need a little reorganization to... More

All the food here is made fresh and brought to your table, though you order at the counter and help yourself to (delicious) coffee and teas. A good range of breakfast and lunchtime food which was all very wholesome and palatable. Much-used by local as well as tourists which is always a good sign. Heartily recommended.

After visiting Bell’s Historic site, we were on our way to Cheticamp via Cabot Trail. However, we realized we would need to stop for lunch along the way. Instead of stopping, we decided to buy something in Baddeck and eat along the way to save time. Highwheeler was rated highly on TripAdvisor so we decided to buy our sandwiches here.... More

During our stay in Baddeck I took a walk around the waterfront and downtown each morning. Before I went back to the B&B I would stop here to get treats for later. They have the best cinnamon buns I have tasted. Also my wife raved about the scones. You should try this cafe when you are in the Baddeck area.

We found this spot on our first day in Baddeck, we were looking for a good breakfast spot and it was so good we returned every morning while we were in town. We also had lunch there one day and it was equally good. Excellent coffee and bakery items as well as egg dishes and sandwiches. It is a deli with... More

The scones, cinnamon buns and all baked goods are the best on the east coast. The sandwiches for the road/trail packed up ready for travel were outstanding - everything was awesome.

Stopped here for lunch and order the Seafood Chowder and asked for some tap water as a drink. The chowder arrived with a basket of two large biscuits (scones here in the UK) too sweet to go with chowder and the preverbal biscuits. The chowder was just a milky mess with little bits of something floating in it, certainly not... More

Best cinnamon bun ever- full of brown sugar-yum! Stopped for a mid-morning coffee and snack and were treated to deliciousness. My partner had a fresh, blueberry scone-the word delivered on it was "heaven". Eyed up the peanutbutter-filled,chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and had to say "no"- how stupid of us, what were we thinking 😩 leaving those babies behind! Get there... More
