The place to be in Baddeck for a down home lobster dinner

Certainly a good meal in a fun old building with lots of atmosphere but certainly not an elegant spot. It was fun to do the wait and talk to others and then realize that the soup and mussels were going to keep coming if you really could eat a lot. It would have been fun to be able to get... read more

We're from Vermont, here to cycle the Cabot Trail. We had dinner here based on Trip Advisor reviews. Wow! The chowder is milky and loaded with fresh fish. It's not cloyingly thick the way chowder in America is. The fish really could shine. The mussels were served "dry", not in sauce like in America, and you don't need it. The... More

We started out w/ a very tasty seafood chowder, as an appetizer. Amazing biscuits were served, as well as, dinner rolls. The grilled salmon on a cedar plank was tasty, and the lobster was delicious! It's a family run business - the son of the owner was our waiter, and he was delightful - service was top notch!

Very good. We arrived early for dinner and were able to sit out on the veranda. The weather has been very hot and humid so this was a relief. The main dining area was way too warm. Staff friendly and accommodating. Food was good, chowder, followed by unlimited mussels, lobster served with cole slaw and potatoes salad, plus dessert. The... More

Big noisy room, filled with tourists stuffing their faces with a line up out the door... which would normally drive me crazy, but in the context of a visit to Nova Scotia, it was almost perfect! The salmon looked enticing (and a huge portion), but we stuck with the lobster and crab meals. The lobster was, well, lobster. Good stuff.... More

The food was okay, but the wait was horrific. There has got to be better places to get lobster. We waited for 20 minutes to get seated and then it took well over 2 hours to get all of our food. Needless to say the diabetics in the group were not impressed. Our waitress was delightful, but the ability of... More

Busy when we arrived and lucky to be seated immediately. Staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were so busy. Orders came as asked and food was fine. This is not high class, nor a dog box, but a great small town place to eat. Will return if ever in the area. Be warned this place can get... More

This was the most fun we had on our travels through NS. It's sort of a VFW type hall with old tables and maybe volunteer help. They had cheap lobster dinners with the usual sides. They also cracked the lobsters in the right places so you don't have to. We also had a huge bucket of clams that were very good.... More

Definitely a tourist restaurant, but we enjoyed it. Perhaps a little context is important - we're from the Midwest, so having a gigantic lobster for dinner is definitely something special! The restaurant is no frills, but the service was fantastic and the lobster and crab were delicious! I would recommend ordering ala carte and potentially sharing as the portions are... More

We didn't have the lobster supper, but the mussels and salmon instead. The food was alright, not worth the price we paid. The best part of the meal was the complementary bread.
