The Inkeepers at the Water's Edge Inn in Baddeck told us about this restaurant which is overlooks St. Ann's Harbour. What's special about this restaurant, besides it's spectacular locvation on the Cabot Trail, is that everything they cook and cook with is sourced within 100 miles of the restaurant. A charming small inn on the top of a steep hill,... More

We stayed at the inn as well as had dinner there. It is a very quiet relaxing place. The meals both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, well above the standards of other more expensive meals we have had recently. Well worth the visit.

We just enjoyed a most relaxing and satisfying dining experience on September 10 at Chanterelle Country Inn located 36 km north of Badeck along the Cabot Trail. The menu identifies the 20 local sources for all of the organic food. Owner Earlene Busch was a charming hostess. We started off with cocktails in the cozy den and then moved to... More

With so much of the dining fare in Cape Breton geared towards bus tours discovering the Chanterelle Restaurant was a rare and delightful find! Here the service is individual and refined. The owner and her assistant (Earlene and Keith) go out of their way to attend to your dining delights while offering a very homey and personalized service. The menu... More

I have a summer home down Cabot Trail from the Chanterelle Inn, this was the first time I had eaten at the Inn. It was remarkable. My nephew is a chef from Boston and is a food snob--he loved his beet and blueberry salad, lobster bisque, leg of lamb and bread pudding. My meal was also fabulous. The local ingredients... More

We had a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving dinner here. At first I was disappointed that it was our only option on the menu, but everything was so delicious. The inn's staff was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious and high quality - all locally sourced. It's not inexpensive, but the portions were generous and it was worth the price... More

This restaurant is not to be missed if you are travelling on Cape Breton Island. The fish was caught in the morning and on my plate in the evening. Homemade breads are superior and desserts are delicious. The mushroom soup is made with mushrooms picked on the property and salad greens are as fresh as can be from local farms.... More

Our dinner began with Delicate fresh green salads, a gorgeous wild mushroom soup, and baked Oysters pulled from the Bras d'Or baked in Chive Butter and Aioli. We shared a fabulous bottle of Cayuga from Cape Breton's Cote De Bras D'or Winery - Marble Mountain and gazed out over miles of blue green clarity. Our locally caught poached Speckled Trout... More

The Chanterelle Restaurant was a lovely experience for us on our Nova Scotia vacation. We had fiddlehead soup, bouillabaisse, salad and dessert. Not cheap, but fine quality ingredients and a delicately lovely meal. We agree with the other reviews about the peaceful setting overlooking a green valley and the hummingbirds visiting. No one has mentioned the rustic elegance of the... More

We are pleased you joined us for dinner as you were going around the Cabot Trail. And we appreciate your most generous compliments. Yes, we admit to being somewhat more expensive because of the time and effort it takes to find and prepare the freshest and best quality local food available. Knowing the provenance of the ingredients we serve is... More

We had dinner here in August, on the verandah. The food was wonderful (all local ingredients)--probably the best beef I have ever had. It is quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view over eh valley and mountains. And the air was alive with humming birds
