Alpenhorn Bistro & Bar

The food is exceptionally good but the TV's go full blast all the time. Not particularly the right atmosphere for visiting. In the summer there is outside seating which is considerably quieter & much more conducive to visiting not to mention hearing.

We have visited this restaurant on 4 different occasions, each time leaving disappointed. The service is poor the quality of the food below mediocre. The first time I went I had the steak salad it was ok so I thought I'd get it again, it was so poorly put together the second time my steak was chared to the point... More

This was a great place to stop for lunch at a local restaurant when passing through town. Decent beer selection at reasonable prices. HUGE appies and deliciously down to earth mains on the lunch menu. Had the trio of dips to start and then ordered one of the Panini's. All really well done! Also had great service in a friendly... My friend and I went to the Alpenhorn for dinner Friday March 27. It's got a great atmosphere and I've always been pleased with the food. It was super busy when we got there but got quieter within the hour. We were in no rush so it was no problem. We shared an appetizer which was great and tasty -... More

We have been to the Alpenhorn a number of times as it WAS one of our favorite places to grab a good lunch at a reasonable price, considering the limited choices in Smithers. The last two times we went, however we found the quality of the food quite disappointing. Both times we needed to send the “hot” plates back to... More

Ate here 3 times when I was in Smithers on a business trip. Food is above average pub style, they have a decent beer selection and the service was good. This is a nice big pub/bistro. There is a good variety of food available and it was not too noisy even while the hockey game was on. The pub is... More

We came here after a day of skiing, it took forever for the waitress to serve us. When she finally did it took forever for the beer to come. We eventually were able to order appetizers, but since it was now so close to dinner we didn't order as much. They were ok. The beer was good. Service could use... More

We had dinner here a few years ago during a stop over in Smithers and as we were there again a few days ago went back. It is still great food, some interesting menu options - definitely try their "famous salmon dip" - delicious and the potato skins were also great. Steak cooked to perfection for a main was really... Went here for dinner twice and both meals (burger and steak) were excellent. Good service and ambiance, as well. This place will continue to be my go-to eatery when in Smithers..

Love the Alpenhorn. Went all the time when I lived in Smithers. Really decent food and super nice staff. Newly renovated, lots of space and the owners are great.
