Cuisines: Bakery
Description: This fantastic bakery is at the start of the Skookumchuck Trail in Egmont BC. Egmont is a tiny place on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. It seems that they don't really have addresses as the Green Rosette doesn't have one other than "Skookumchuck Trail" which is on their business card. Sorry I can't be more specific. No website either I'm afraid, but what they do have is the very best cinnamon buns I have EVER eaten. We've had their cookies, muffins and samosas which are also fabulous, but those sinny-buns...Wow! Visitors to the popular Skookumchuk Trail can pick up breakfast or lunch goodies here, or "eat in" at their covered veranda in the woods. Marten and Carolynn Mees are the bakers/proprietors...lovely folks. Open 9-4 daily July and August. phone 604-883-2094

Now called the Skookumchuck Bakeshop & under new management. You can't go wrong with this location, between the parking lot and the start of the trail to Skookumchuck narrows up in the trees in a beautiful natural setting with a little creek and everything. Their buns were tasty, their smoothies are smooth, and their breakfast sandwiches hit the spot after... More

Dropped by while in Egmont and tried the Skookumchuck Cinnamon bun which was fairly highly priced for what you get and wasn't impressed. Had better and paid a lot less. Nice owners. Great location but please don't price gouge because you're the only bakery within some kilometres. I'll go back to a place with fair pricing again and again but... More

I did the Skookumchuk Narrows hike in early July, as I was walking in to the trail I saw a couple sitting by a little bridge eating delicious cinnamon buns. As I looked up into the trees I saw the sign (a rusty old pickup with a surfboard on the roof) and further up a side path there sits the... More

Delicious cinnamon bun and hot chocolate. The view from the deck is stunning. Also perfectly located for a quick stop before or after your hike to skookumchuck.

Under new ownership in 2014 by a sweet couple who have kept many of the favourites and added many soon-to-be favourites. Great stop on the way to and from Skookumchuk Narrows. We loved the coffee, fresh almond milk (!), smoothies, raspberry cake and cookies.

Such a neat, rainforest cafe. Make sure you stop in and say hi. You won't be disappointed. Lots of great coffee and baked options. Also have a daily soup. A+

We stopped in for coffee before husband went on the Skookumchuck hike. Lovely Ethiopian dark roast. We met up there again afterward, this time also had baked treats. Everything is so very charming, like a tidy treehouse that serves the best baked goodies around. The proprietors are warm and gracious -- lots of bar stools to sit and enjoy the... More

As an baker I find I have to try them all. Of the half dozen bakeries I visited on my most recent trip to the Sunshine Coast, this was far and away the best. The prices are a little high for my taste but seem on a par with other bakeries on the coast. The quality of the baked goods... More

Not only does this bakery have the best cinnamon buns, scones, and savories, but they have great coffee. The owners are so friendly and remember us every year when we arrive. Truly a gem. You must try the blackberry cinnamon buns.
