This place closed in late April 2013. I talked the woman co-owner and she said they sold out. She had no idea what the new owners were going to do. If you find it open, be aware that there are new owners. Could be better. Could be worse. But I got the impression it will be changing.

The rustic decor of the building, the alder cooked steaks, the all you can eat corn and mashed potatoes...a unique dining experience that everyone should experience. For lunch, they have hearty soups and sandwiches on artisan breads.

The food was really good. Not overly smoked. The sides tasted like home made, like my Grandmother's cooking. The spread for the bread was really interesting, I think it was honey, cinnamon, and whipped butter. The atmosphere was a bit cheesy but the food and service made up for it. Would definitely go again.

The steaks are so good, cooked perfectly. The sides are self serve and awesome. Garlic mashed potatoes (mmmm), corn (fresh) and baked beans/chili (OMG so good). Incredible art work and taxidermy.

This place is great in the summertime--outdoor patio--smell the wood smoke--but it is good in the winter time, too! We stopped in while hunting--go to the grille in the back--but make sure to try the soups! I overheard the cooks talking about how good the potato soup had turned out, so had to try it. I went back for home-made... More

Wild Things Alaska Alder Grill has the feel of a tourist trap as soon as you walk in the front door. The restaurant is in the back and has the feel of a tourist trap diner. The prices are high. The food is average to below-average. Service is good, but there's only so much a good server can do to... More

I was was somewhat disappointed. Had the pork ribs. the BBQ sauce had a nice flavor. The meat was nothing to write home about, tough and tasteless. The all you can eat sides, garlic mashed potatoes(OK), corn(just corn), baked beans(very good). Price, a little on the high side for what your getting.
