I have stopped here twice now for breakfast on trips to Canada. Both times I have been impressed by the good, quick service and good food. It's nothing fancy, but I felt comfortable and enjoyed my meal both times. It was also clean and lots of room. I suspect that the Northside probably operates accordingly for all meals. I'll stop... When someone on the airplane into Grand Forks asked me to recommend a place to take their family for breakfast, and they specifically wanted a place that wasn't a chain, I recommended the Northside Cafe. If your "special occasion" is a family birthday gathering or a larger family meal, I'd recommend calling to reserve the room to the right of... More

We were just looking for somewhere different for lunch and thought we would give Northside a try, sadly it wasn't worth going out of our way. The food was okay, the service was okay, the place is okay but when we go out to lunch we expect more than just okay. We won't be back.

We were really impressed by the food here! It definitely has more of a cafe atmosphere, so if you are looking for something fancy, this isn't right for you. But if you're looking for a diner, family-feeling place, then I believe you will like it! It's clean and well kept as well. Like many diners the menu is really big,... More

Nice clean diner. I got the beef special for 8.50 which included beef roast, a side of potatoes, green beans and a soup/salad/coleslaw. The soup was cream of potato. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. The service on the other hand could use a lot of improvement. I had to initiate the conversation with the waitress... More

After an awful experience the night before at a place right down the street we were leery of this one so close by. What a wonderful surprise. We both had a delicious breakfast. I had the meat lovers with cream gravy over crisp hash browns and my husband had the same with fried eggs on top. The place was crowded... More

Great food and great service. Family friendly. Good selection of meals to choose from at very reasonable prices. Wait staff seems to REALLY!!! like small children going by the service we received on a Saturday evening.

The boss is very rude to her servers, if they make a mistake she is always yelling at them infront of the customers I have witnessed this everytime I have gone to this cafe. The food is alright but the management of this cafe is horrible I feel bad for the employees.

This isn't fine dining or for the calorie counter. It's regular diner fare. The parking lot is packed with trades trucks, service vehicles and a smattering of half tons. You know that if these people are eating here, it can't be all bad. The cafe is a lot bigger than you would think but that's good given the crush of... More
