I love having Brunch at Sweet Potatoes and finally was able to visit for dinner. We arrived about 10 minutes after it opened at 5:00 (Friday night) & the restaurant was already filled. Luckily we were not in a rush because there were several large groups. If you expect to dine fast your best bet is sitting at the bar.... More

Visited this awesome, black owned restaurant with my family a few days before Thanksgiving 2014. This was my 1st trip to Winston Salem and everyone had been telling me that it was a "must go" so we went. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was intimate and cozy. The two owners came over to our table to introduce themselves and... More

Unique restaurant. The place was packed on a Tuesday night. Was seated immediately & service was impeccable. Wife had the shrimp & grits, and we shared the meat loaf "platter". Every person that came in was seated immediately. You could tell there were many "regulars". Creative menu...food was very good.

Sweet Potatoes is a must for anyones who loves southern cooking. Honestly, I have eaten grits all my life and these are the best. The biscuits were large and fluffy and the sausage gravy rich and full of flavor. Two in our party got the fried bologna sandwiches and loved them. Try the okra and fried green tomato basket as... I'm a Winston- Salem native and even after traveling the world and living elsewhere Sweet Potatoes is my favorite refutation. I love the jazzy atmosphere and changing art. The food is exactly what a true southern Mama would make. Their collard green dip and meatloaf is not to be missed. But mostly importantly- GET DESSERT. Sweet potato pie, bread pudding,... More

Service was terrible and not so great, very disappointed. We were the first people in the restaurant ands literally the last to be served.

Sweet Potatoes is true down-home southern cuisine. I am not a big soup fan, but I always order the soup...every time...without fail...without asking what it is. Their soups are THAT good. I have never been disappointed with the food quality or the service.

I heard a lot of good things about this place so I was excited to give it a try when I had a chance. I was a tad disappointed, but it was just because of my preferences. Sweet Potatoes specializes in real "southern" cuisine. I'm talking 'shrimp & grits' and collard greens sort of "southern". Of course, they have many... More

We drove the 30 miles from Greensboro for a Sunday event in downtown W-S, and chose Sweet Potatoes for the 4 star review rating in Yelp, their reputation for excellent southern cuisine, and our previous experience there for lunch. We arrived a few minutes before they opened, and stood in line with about 50 people. All were seated immediately when... More
