The snooty server told me 'no children's menu but I have tenders'. And that is what is wrong with America today. The place was overcrowded and I heard every word of the conversation behind me. Soul food it might be. But the heart might complain of hardened arteries. The stomach will protest the lack of anything remotely green. The head... More

I LOVE Sweet Potatoes!!! One of my favorite restaurants. Great food, great staff, and wonderful owners. Mambo Chicken sandwich for lunch if you like spicy and Spaghetti with a Drawl for dinner unless it's Burger Night. Burger Night (Wed Nights) you can't go wrong with the special or one of the regular burgers. Last week's special was a Philly Cheese... More

I am kind of ashamed to admit that I have never been to Sweet Potatoes, even though I am a resident of Winston Salem. Over the years I’ve heard good things about it and had the best of intentions but for some reason it slipped my mind when thinking of places to dine. Downtown Winston Salem has a promotion during... Love this restaurant. This was our second time at this restaurant but 1 year apart. Great menu items to select from. Party ordered a variety of selections. We all were very pleased with each dish. Just delicious, well prepared and fresh. Service was great for our large party. Loved the deserts as well. Nice atmosphere. My daughter wasn't sure to... More

This is a small albeit popular place. I was there on a weekday night and it was packed. I was alone, so rather than waiting for a table the hostess suggested I sit at the bar. Now this bartender was very busy but had absolutely no personality. I have sat at many bars where the bartender is non stop but... More

I live directly across Trade street from Sweet Potatoes. In fact my balcony is almost perfectly aligned with their front door. Having such a great restaurant so close is truly a pleasure. Everything about Sweet Potatoes is just plan good. I use the phrase "just plain" intentionally. Because Sweet Potatoes is not overly pretentious, just good from start to finish.... More

My wife and I ate here last night with a another coupe and it is a great place to have a good meal and have good conversation; the atmosphere is really nice. The menu is varied and all items have a southern twist, very well prepared and taste great. My friend and I had the Drunken Pork Chops which were... More

People had told me about Sweet Potatoes but I'd never ventured there since it's located 'downtown' & parking's a pain. I have to say, the experience was worth the 'angst' of dealing with logistics! LOL. Food was good & wait staff was excellent!

My wife and I visited on New Year's Eve after reading some reviews on TripAdvisor. It's located in downtown, an easy walk from the Marriott we were staying at. We experienced a short wait, maybe 10 minutes or so. It's intimate setting, with low lighting, so a good spot for a romantic dinner if that's what you're after. I had... More
