Wonderful fried okra

We had Sunday brunch here recently. We arrived about 12:30 and it was really crowded. Go early or go late in order to avoid the crowd. Had to wait 30 minutes + for a table. The food is wonderful. Nice selection of southern food items. Service excellent and staff were very friendly. It is a... read more

I've been here for brunch and lunch and never had a bad meal. Down home cooking, for sure. You could say soul food, but it's more than that. Great menu, great folks. Not to be missed.

We got the last table before they went on a wait. The place was packed! Everything on the menu looked delicious. We ended up getting the trout and the seafood gumbo. Both were excellent! The staff was incredibly friendly and the food came out so quick!

Since we moved to Winston Salem, we've heard great things about Sweet Potatoes, an AWARD WINNING Restaurant in the Downtown Arts District of Winston Salem, where they serve unique, southern inspired uptown, down - home cooking. We weren't dispointed at all! I personally love their eggs Benedict and Hector had their Sweet Potato Pancakes & Fried Chicken Tenders. But the... More

Being from the deep south and eating southern food on a daily basis, Sweet potatoes Restaurant is a true gem amongst the Winston-Salem restaurant scene. Food was outstanding and priced very fair for the great meal you receive in this establishment. Request James as a server, he was very professional and attentive to every detail of being a great server.... More

Very busy at lunch. Very reasonable prices with good food. Phil's favorite was delicious. Hot brown was very good. Key lime pie delicious. The service was great. Dennis did a great job. We would go back.

Yes, you usually have to wait to get seated. Our wait during the dinner hour on a weekday was 30 minutes. But you can always go shopping at one of the boutiques down the block while you wait. Once seated the service was not very fast. Our server was new and forgot to get our wine. Once reminded, she got... More

I was in Winston Salem for several weeks on business, and the only reason I ate nine times at Sweet Potatoes was that, because it was closed on Sunday and Monday nights, I couldn't eat there a dozen times! The Mac and cheese souffle was so good I bought the cookbook -- several kinds of cheese, little bits of country... More

Went on a Friday evening-our first visit. The restaurant was an easy walk from the hotel. It had been recommended. It appeared to be very popular with a 30 minute wait. Once in, the staff were very helpful and courteous. He explained the items on the menu. One in our party had never tasted pork rinds so he brought a... More

Their grits are divine, even if your meal doesn't come with me them order a side of them. Creamy...savory, yum Overall a really good brunch place, very friendly staff and everything was delicious. They really need to get rid of that stupid 'no liquor before noon on Sunday' nonsense though (and yes I know that's that state of NCs issue,... More
