Our Favorite Breakfast Spot

A great breakfast from opening 'til closing. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, grits, bacon? We've had them all. Lunch is, also, available. Classic, funky restaurant in Downtown Wilmington. Friendly wait staff.

Wilmington offers many different brunch options, and this fills a particular niche. If you are in the mood for inexpensive but good diner food in an informal (and likely packed) setting, visit the Dixie Grill. It won't be the fanciest or most healthy breakfast in the area, but their sweet potato pancakes were delicious. I enjoyed the Louisiana Hash as... More

Woke up Sunday morning and leafed through our hotel's local attraction book looking for a breakfast spot. This place was page one, and for good reason. When we walked up on the diner style restaurant, there was already a group of people waiting outside for a seat. It looked so busy, we almost went somewhere else, but when I asked... More

Had brunch on Saturday. Dixie Grill is one of the best places for breakfast in the downtown area. Everything thing is good but the grits are absolutely the best! They serve breakfast, lunch & now dinner. It is not an elegant place just good food & good service!

The wait was 40 minutes outdoors on a nice Wilmington Sunday morning. The place is very simple. The menu had promise which did deliver with interesting fare such as a corned beef hash omelette. Cook to be moist and vibrant. My wife's blueberry pancake were top notch. We walked out with a spring to our step since our bill was... More

The food was amazing, which anyone in Wilmington will tell you, however when we went on a Wednesday at lunch, it took almost two hours for six of us to get in and out. Granted we were a large party, but that seemed a little ridiculous. Overall, I still recommend it simply for the amazing food. I've heard that there... More

Looking for a place to have breakfast and decided to try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed with how good the food is and you will enjoy the atmosphere of a quaint and charming original interior. We had the sweet potato and buttermilk short stack (nothing short about this stack) pancakes and the prices are reasonable. I do not... More

We stopped in for brunch and the place had such a great vibe to it - the staff were all smiles, it was busy but not chaotic, the menu was extensive and the food was great. Had to try the grits, which was amazing by the way. Prices were very reasonable and it was great hanging out listening to the... More

While staying downtown at the Courtyard, about a 5 min walk away, I tried the Dixie Grill and was not disappointed. Had a basic fried eggs, bacon and hash browns combo for a reasonable $7.50 along with some good coffee. The eggs were done just right (over easy) and the awesome hash browns made the meal!! Alanna was the server... More

I really enjoyed my recent visit to The Dixie Grill with a group of 5. Food was excellent. I went with a mixed group of meat eaters and vegetarians and everyone left happy. I had the strawberry banana pecan french toast with a side of sausage and I couldn't have been more satisfied. Coffee flowed heavily - always a good... More
