Nice Day on the Water

We had an early dinner on Easter Sunday at The George. The service was fine, not great, but just fine. The ambiance can't be beat, the location is just perfect to watch the sunset. Service sucked. Waited 20 minutes for any assistance. Manager waited on us. Waiter showed up in time for dessert. Celebrating for anniversary, and was rather disappointed. Will not recommend.

Had dinner there, The atmosphere is beautiful overlooking the Cape River. My husband ordered the baked chicken and really liked it. I ordered the Black and Blue tuna with wasabi potatoes and stir fried veggies. The potatoes and the veggies were very good. The tuna was meh. It actually had no taste at all. Really no taste at all. I... More

Sat outside by the river walk. Shrimp and grits were excellent. Service with a smile :-) Great views.

Stopped in this charming spot right on the river for a little lunch on Easter. Great view with interesting decor dominated by re-purposed cattle troughs filled with greenery. Excellent server, but food disappointing... Over fried crab on Carolina Po Boy, diminutive portion of grouper on Reuben and boring chicken Panini...Just have to assume Chef took Easter off to spend with... More

We ate here because it was close to the hotel (separate review) in Wilmington. They have covered and open seating and the restaurant is dog friendly. The menu is varied with something that would surely please everyone. I ordered the lump crab corn chowder and fish and chips. Hubby orderd a garden salad and vodka penne pasta. I ended up... More

Finally on my fifth trip to Wilmington, North Carolina, I decided to try The George. The server was very fast to come and take my order of food and drinks, and bring my drinks, and then he dissapeared. I saw him attending other people and never gave a look towards my table. As a business traveller, I was seated alone.... More

Stopped for lunch at the George On the Riverwalk on a cool sunny day. We sat outside overlooking the Cape Fear River. Super view of the River and we were able to walk on the Riverwalk after our lunch. Alligator appetizer was very good, both fried and grilled on skewers. Not something I would have ordered but my husband just... More

Stayed at the Hilton (a sweet place itself) on the river for business and walked down to The George for dinner. It's a little off-season so no problem with waiting or crowds. Nice waterfront view. The service was pretty good, and friendly. The food overall, quite good! The alligator satay was tasty, Manhattan chowder quite good, and steak very nice.... More

If you want to experience Wilmington's fun and interesting downtown, don't miss The George. I love the ambiance of this place and its proximity to the River Walk. The menu is diverse and most of my meals have been excellent. A couple of times, I was a little disappointed in the food, but the place always delivers and the service... More
