This was a great place for lunch. I wish we had returned for dinner rather than some of the other higher recommended restaurants. This restaurant is a great lunch and dinner spot. It is a nice spot to unwind expecially with the patio seating. This restaurant has a lot of history and character. For all you film buffs- Dawson's Creek used this location for filming some of their scenes. At dinner they offer live music which is always a plus. more

Great view of the Cape Fear River while you enjoy really, really good food. Highly recommend the grilled chicken sandwich. They also have great chicken tenders. more

I don't do much going out at night as part of my usual routine, but whenever there's a lovely evening and I'm ready to sit back and have a Guinness and watch the sunset over the Cape Fear River, it's Water Street every time. Sunday afternoon, too early for the Market Street restaurant favorite, yet thirsty and hungry, we stumbled on the Water Street Restaurant. This was a pleasant surprise. Found this restaurant in April while on a trip to write some features about Wilmington. I'm mystified by the other reviewers saying the food wasn't good; my partner and I thought what we had was great, and the wait staff was terrific. Friendly, funny, but not intrusive. Had dinner with friends here on Friday, Feb 24th, 2006. It was OK. Had a Red Snapper grilled. It was OK. Not the best I have had. Had the gumbo, it seemed bland to me. The music is very good here though. They do get some good entertainment. more
