Delicious

The food was excellent. There was a Sunday brunch menu, but we had the fried shrimp, scallops, and catfish as well as the fried green tomatoe sandwich. The catfish and FGT sandwich were spicy. The restaurant is like a big house with a beautiful view. Tables had chairs and cushioned benches We ate... read more

I have been to the Pilot House several times as my daughter lives in Wilmington. This is one of our favorite places to go to sit outside on the Cape Fear River and enjoy the view. We especially like the crab dip but have never had a bad meal there.

Invited to enjoy river front dining with friends at their favorite fine dining spot. Maybe it was me, but everything seemed a bit off atmosphere wise, due to storm or quiet evening, or something. Server very helpful and knowledgeable, food well prepared, pour wines decent, but it just felt a bit tired, maybe everyone would have preferred to have the... More

My husband and I love crab stuffed mushrooms and order them whenever we find them on the menu. The Pilot House had the best we have ever eaten. My husband had the Carolina burger that came with fried onion rings, bacon, cheese, and home-made slaw on it. He loved it! I had Country Ham and Collard soup and a turkey... More

We arrived at 5:15 on a Thursday evening, and we were seated promptly in a table with a nice view of the Cape Fear river. The restaurant is lovely inside, and Jennifer, our server, was very attentive. We had a dozen oysters on the half shell and a New York Strip. The oysters were delicious, and the steak was perfectly... More

We started with reservations over the phone with a very nice young lady that promised if it was uncomfortable outside under cover with fans she would move us inside. Table for 6 and a super waiter. Very knowledgeable and super accommodating. I had the best seafood I have ever had in my life. Sweet Potato Grouper on a bed of... More

The fried and grilled oysters were as good as any we have ordered anywhere. The collard ham soup was a flavorful treat . Their take on shrimp and grits was unique and well worth a trip just for that menu item. The grits were fried and covered with shrimp saluted in a buttery garlic sauce with collard greens on the... Tried Pilot House for the first time last weekend, and wowza, I am still thinking about that meal. We had a table inside, but next to a window with a great view of the river. We had the chargrilled oysters to start.....and they were heavenly. They were my first oyster experience, and I am a huge fan now. I tried... More

Food was disappointing. The hostess was cold and seemed bothered. The service was okay. The atmosphere was the best part of the experience. If you go, sit on the deck outside. Sunset was beautiful... food was... meh.

Very nice staff and excellent food with an amazing view overlooking the Cape Fear River. Dinner prices are reasonable for the quality and presentation.
