Love the food,

Ethnic atmosphere with three levels. The mustard is homemade and fabulous. Best German potato salad we have had. Great German beer selection and great homemade deserts. Pleasant, attentive staff.

Was not the traditional schnitzel I grew up eating in Germany. Very greasy. Excellent potatoe cakes.

Having lived in Germany for many years, I was delighted to find this jewel in Wilmington. I am told they have been open for thirty years! I dined early on a weekday. The service was good. The wurst platter was delicious and reminded me of the "old country." They served a generous apfel strudel with whipped cream; a delicious desert.... More

It was such a pleasant surprise to find this charming cafe serving authentic German food and homemade desserts in the Cotton Exchange! There is also a nice selection of German beers on tap. We had the special - Sauerbraten served with a potato dumpling, red cabbage, and zucchini followed by a piece of homemade, light as a feather, chocolate cake!... More

We have eaten in this restaurant three times over the years and found the food to be very good and the service is very good. While we have never been to Germany and therefore cannot comment on the authenticity of the German food here, but we have enjoyed everything we have tried. The wait staff is attentive, but not obtrusive.... More

I was stationed in Germany for about 3 years where I had the opportunity to enjoy and come to love German cooking. This resturant brought all of that back. The food was authentic and the ambiance reminded my of being back in a typical German setting.

This was my first German restaurant. I enjoyed the food and would go back. Our waitress was great! The menu at lunch had a good variety to choose from. Nice restaurant.

I have tried German food before and I can only say the food at this restaurant was just ok. We ordered the potato pancakes, they were nice and thin but a little doughy in the middle. I had the veal schnitzel and my husband had the jager schnitzel, they were both tasty. We ordered the cherry strudel for dessert with... More

We have been to the German Cafe at least five times in the past year. I always order the pork schnitzel and think that it is very well done. I love the red cabbage and potato salad that come with it and only wish they served more of the cabbage. My husband has had the wurst sampler and the pfeffer... More

We went there thinking they would have more German food. It was good but the sad thing is that the mustard was the thing that stood out on my schnitzel. The restaurant was very cozy and the staff was friendly. Now they make homemade desserts that are good. We had the Napoleon.
