Atmosphere was quant, and cozy. Food was good, but average, not many authentic German dishes offered. We did go for lunch, you might want to check at the dinner menu for more entrées.

Nice little restaurant tucked away the hustle and bustle. Good, authentic food, good prices. I highly recommend it to anyone. While there, grab a fresh made strudel to go!

Great food and free parking, make sure you pay the parking if you plan to walk anywhere else downtown. They will give you a ticket if you are not at the Cotton Exchange.

Our group enjoyed lunch there. They loved the grilled cheese sandwiches. Other friends highly recommended as well.

We stopped by after dinner at The Basics for dessert to go. We got a chocolate cake with some kind of raspberry reduction on it. It was one of the best cakes we have ever had. We want to go back and try the food now, just because the dessert was so good.

Today, my wife and I had to go downtown to Wilmington NC for some quick business. We thought while we were there, we would go over to the Cotton Exchange where there are several nice shops and restaurants in the area. We have been wanting to eat at the German Cafe for a while, but just never seem to get... More

This quaint cafe has wonderful service. There are a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads offered. Our selections included a salad and sandwich combination which is perfect for lunch. The desserts looked to be delicious, but unfortunately we did not have time to sample. I hope to when we return!

Located on the Water Street side of The Cotton Exchange with convenient free parking in front, the German Cafe is always on our agenda when visiting Wilmington. The wurst platter of three different German sausages served with sauerkraut and potato salad is a tasty introduction to German cuisine. The Cafe also serves quintessential German dishes like schnitzels and has a... More

I love German food, and it's hard to find, so I was excited to come here for my second visit. This time I was here with my extended family, some of whom had never had German food before. We shared tastes of everyone's meals, so I got to try three different plates. Both the saubraten and the Jagerschnitzel were very... More

Ate at the cafe July 10th. I hadn't eat there in a couple of years, but it hadn't changed a bit. We had reubens, potato pancakes, and their wonderful German potato salad. You can't go wrong there. If you're looking for something a little different, try it. I think you will like it.
