Love the fried green tomatoes and love the Cotton Exchange! The food and staff are great. You must come downtown to visit!

My husband and I had a late lunch at The Basics on a Wednesday afternoon. This is probably our fourth or fifth visit for either lunch or dinner. It is a fun place to take guests looking for a southern menu, but I personally think that many of the lesser known diners and local restaurants serve better versions of the... More

Liked our waitress. She gave good input on the food when asked and recommended a great appetizer. We also had the BBQ which was very good with sweet mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

My mom and I ate here on a whim for my birthday. She got the eggs Benedict with a side of cheese grits for $10. I got the migas( Mexican style scrambled eggs) with a side of fried okra. We were lucky to get a window view to people watch while we ate. The service was good, but I rated... More

This is one of my favorite places for Sunday brunch, but I hadn't been here for dinner in a while. We chose this restaurant because our friends were staying in a hotel close by, and requested a local restaurant with southern foods. Although there was a bit of a mix up with our reservation, we were accommodated, and service was... More

Charming restaurant adjacent to The Cotton Exchange. My favorite item on the breakfast menu was the migas. The music was a little loud and jarring for the first thing in the morning.

We went on a Sunday morning, very busy and weren't acknowledged to put our name down for a good 20 minutes. Kind of frustrating. Once we were seated, our server was very nice. I got the shrimp and grits, wanted to try something different, it's served with a green tomato relish, gravy instead of traditional creamy gravy. Not my favorite... More

Stopped in here this Tuesday (11/25) for breakfast. Have not been in here for months. I like the location and décor of the restaurant. Old book and movie posters dot the walls in the bar area. I had the breakfast standard entrée: eggs, meat and two sides. The scrambled eggs were plentiful and the side of fresh fruit was awesome.... More

Family took us out for breakfast. Small menu, but all of the breakfast staples are available. Had French Toast and Grits. Food was served quickly and arrived hot. Our meals were very good. Service was friendly.

They gave us THE BASICS. Three for lunch, two ordered flounder and one order Mahi. The flounder was described as corn meal crusted and fried. We got the basics, a paper thin sliver of what we thought was flounder. It had no taste and was on a bed of rice. I paid $11 for rice and 2 ounces of something... More
