The Red Rooster

This oyster bar is the real deal! It's only open in months that have an R in them, and it's nothing fancy, but everything delectable. If you are brave enough to try the Red Rooster, be forewarned that it is a sinus clearer. Have milk or several beers ready to easy the pain. I guarantee that you... read more

As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. This place from outside definitely looks like it was established in 1935, but once inside it is awesome. I believe it's on the historical register. It was a very surprising and pleasant experience. Words can not describe it. If you like oysters, shrimp and scallops, you have to experience... More

Eat oysters, soda crackers, and drink cold beer. Its excellent. Unless you are not an oyster eater and have been drug there by oyster eating friends, don't order their other offering.

This place is simply The Best Oyster Bar Period! You will feel right at home there, if there is a 2 hour wait, you're a lucky person, you have time to soak it all up! Have a cold beer and enjoy the food! It's all seafood, no beef or Poultry here. Be sure to eat a Red Rooster!

We'd been on the road for most of the past two days, navigating moonscapesque potholes on the interstate from Mississippi to NC; we were more than a little road weary and ready to relax into some locally popular food. AAA and TripAdvisor concurred that SSOB would be a good choice though a long wait might be ahead of us due... More

We were really fortunate to pick an overnight stop in Williamston, NC and be directed to this restaurant. We got there and they first said they couldn't accommodate us as they had two big groups there but when we explained we were just there for the one evening, they went out of their way to accomodate us. We are great... More

You want oysters this is the place to go. Go as a couple or a group lots of fun. Get there early when we went Saturday its was 1 1/2 to 2 hour plus wait and we were there at 5:30 when they opened. The actually opened early because of the crowd. The service is spectacular and don't forget to... More

if you are looking for great oysters and shrimp this place will not let you down. Try to go during the week and the wait isn't as long. On the weekends your wait could be over an hour. Nothing fancy about this place but they will provide a good meal and the great service.

This is the real deal Oyster Bar. Excellent all the way around. The menu is as basic as you can get: Oysters, Shrimp, Scallops, Crab Legs, Broccoli w/ cheese, beer, wine, soft drinks, tea, must be leaving something out.... No burgers... nothing else to eat. On a weekend night you may wait up to an hour, so get their early... More
