This quaint diner serves good, hot grill food to it's customers. Reminds one of the old drug store diners.

The 50's restaurant is one of those storefront cafe's you see in small downtown America and always wonder if you should try it for the food and the atmosphere. My advice is to try them - you'll rarely be sorry - and we had a fine experience at The 50's. The restaurant is only open from early morning to 2... More

We went here on the advice of a co-worker who lives in the area. He frequents the place often. The homemade chicken casserole was outstanding as was the pimento cheese. Next time I am in Wilkesboro, I look forward to trying their breakfasts.

I would characterize The 50s café as a Wilkes County version of a good "Greek Restaurant". I have enjoyed a business lunch on two occasions during the last 30 days. Their menu includes plate lunches (with daily specials) and a wide array of sandwiches (burgers, clubs, etc.). Very reasonable prices and friendly prompt service. Located on Main Street directly across... More

Not bad at all bad for a small town establishment. The burgers do seem like an earlier time and service was very good.

Not much to say about this place. The food was unremarkable. Not very tasty. Won't likely go back. Ok for elderly who don't want much flavor.

I stopped her for lunch at closing time one weekday afternoon. There were a few locals lingering. It was a fun atmosphere watching people visit and the staff clearing out the place for the day. Super clean with basic food you'd expect Andy Taylor and Gomer Pyle to enjoy at lunch. Almost throw back prices too. Less than $5 for... More

on their "nearly world famous" chicken salad! The chicken casserole is really good as well. They are closed right now due to a fire and I sure hope they open soon because I miss having lunch there. Small town restaurant with home cooking for breakfast and lunch.
