Being a complete stranger to the area, we relied heavily on Trip Advisor and Yelp to find a restaurant to enjoy. Our family loved this place, the hospitality was amazing, friendly service, great wine list, and fantastic food selection. We all ended up tryhing the Fried Chicken, or Chicken Fried Steak in order to really taste Southern style food. It... More

This place is actually a family run business and it runs well, all the time. The food is properly prepared and served. They will change dishes around to your liking and the atmosphere is clean, warm and pleasant. Although they are not a Steak House, they do offer an excellent Rib Eye Steak that is probably one of the best... More

Waynesville is about 30 minutes west of Asheville and is a town fit for tourists with lots of shopping! We had lunch here and enjoyed it very much. We began with Spring Rolls and they were delicious, although we were surprised they were fried.THe salad choices are plenty, and the "lunch" choices are few but varied with a few sandwiches... More

We enjoyed crab cakes, trout, and salmon. Each was incredible. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful, attentive, and friendly.

I have been going to Sweet Onion for years and they continue to provide excellent service and a quality menu at a resonable price. Management is always hand-on and making sure the cutomers receive quality service. To those who seem to think they discrininate against large parties I would have to disagree. I have been there on multiple occasions with... More

We were eight guys on a mountain golf outing. Despite other reviews relating less than welcoming service for large groups, we were accommodated in a friendly and efficient manner. The waitress was superb, never flinching in our request for separate checks. The food was excellent and her recommendations off the the menu were "right on". Will definitely go back next... More

My husband and I vacation in the Waynesville area often and have enjoyed eating at The Sweet Onion on several of our visits. This past week we were vacationing with our family (8 of us) and wanted to take them to dinner at The Sweet Onion. The first attempt was early in the evening, but we were turned away because... More

On a recent family vacation to the Waynesville area, we attempted to eat at the Sweet Onion on two different nights and were turned away both nights. My parents had eaten there on previous trips, so we all wanted to give it a try. The first night I went in to get a table around 5:00 (which I thought was... More

We ate dinner here last week while on vacation. We were seated quickly, and our waitress was very nice. The restaurant was really a good looking place, with a laid-back, upscale feel, and very clean. We had the tuna and crabmeat ceviche as an appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious. We followed the appetizers with salads (caesar and the house?),... More

Great food - great service! We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated for lunch - but it was well worth it! Lively, upbeat atmosphere, friendly wait staff, good variety of food choices. Excellent salads and fresh homemade dressings - they should consider bottling them! Next time we're in Waynesville - this is a for sure meal stop.
