We made a point of returning to the Sweet Onion on our recent travels. The food was as excellent as we remembered. Pricing was reasonable for a tourist town. Service was "leisurely." Bring a sweater as the restaurant is often cool. We had the sweet onion soup for the first time -- can be a meal in itself. Delicious!

After spending the day in Waynesville we stopped here for an early dinner. Our waitress made some recommendations which were excellent. You can't go wrong

We took a trip to Waynesville's "first Friday" on main street. Exstended hours by the business, art galleries hosting local artist events, etc. We picked The Sweet Onion for dinner based on the number of people flocking in. It was very good. The service was great!! We had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. (Maybe... More

Our trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway was coming to a close as we near the last Milepost. Our plan was to get to Wheels Through Time by noon but one of our side trip/hikes to the Lower Falls/Graveyard Fields at Milepost 418 took us waaaay longer than we expected, so we decided to roll the dice, stay in Waynseville... We went there for lunch and they did not have the restaurant fully staffed even thought this is Labor Day week so half of the restaurant was closed. We waited 15 minutes for a table and then were less than thrilled with the quality of our selections. I order a burger and it came out like sawdust…..there was not one... More

A nice restaurant for a meal in downtown Waynesville. Upscale menu with nice variety. I had a very good salmon dish, which was very tasty.

There are three very good restaurants in Waynesville and this is one of them. The service was excellent and the food was good. Try their take on French Onion Soup---it is delicious in its sweetness.

This little town and this restaurant was just wonderful. My friend had the sweet onion soup and I had this great salad that was made with fresh sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese (it was fried) and some assorted greens with an awesome dressing. It was not your basic salad and we all loved our food and the town.

The Sweet Onion is a must stop if you're traveling in the Waynesville area. The Lemongrass Chicken Salad is a must for lunch. Every dinner special is treat. With Blanton's bourbon in the bar this place is special...
