We were lucky enough to get a reservation to the Sweet Onion. Several of the restaurants in Waynesville close for a few weeks this time of year, so choices are limited. We had the Blue Crab and Ahi Tuna Nachos for starters. This is a must for first timers to The Sweet Onion, it is light, sweet and delicious. I... More

We have eaten at Sweet Onion and have always found the food to be consistently delicious. I especially like the crab cakes and my husband loves the country fried steak. The ambience is great as well as the service. Good idea to call ahead for reservations. The wait can be 20-30 minutes.

Enjoyed our lunch of bacon wrapped meatloaf and chicken salad sandwich. The Sweet Onion is a nice place to relax and have a great meal. I also noticed that they actually clean the tables with a sanitizing stray.

This place is becoming a must do for me when visiting Waynesville. This time the family was busy so I dined alone at the bar which was beautifully decorated for the season and very comfortable. I made a plate of Southern sides and had the soup of the day. The home brewed tea was also terrific. I will be back... More

Seriously good food with terrific twists. Chicken spring rolls were the best I have ever had and very unusual. Creamy French onion soup, way different and good. Mahi Mahi nachos, even the mixed green salad was exceptional! Warm, friendly service.

I went here for a late lunch with my family. The service was fine and the food was good. I got a pulled BBQ pork sandwich that was great, but not the best I've had. I liked how it was in Waynesville with a lot of cute shops near it. I do recommend coming here because overall, this was a... More

If you do not have a reservation, expect at least 25 minute wait (which is not too bad for 6pm). The hostess was extremely friendly even asked each guest if the table location was ok for him/her. Our waitress came over promptly & took our drink order (3 guests). She gave us time & answered some questions about food allergies.... More
