During a trip to Waynesville I was told "be sure to eat at the Sweet Onion" So after a long day looking at houses we arrived at Sweet Onion around 9:20 pm hoping because it was a saturday that they would be open till 10pm. When we walked up to the door and finding it locked we were bummed. We... More

We're new to the area as of the beginning of 2014. We tried to visit The Sweet Onion one time in the spring, but it it was closed. We finally made it over today, and I'm really glad we did. This was Saturday, and we came for lunch, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes. Our table was... More

The food at the sweet onion was great. The ahi tuna was flavorful and was fresh! The French onion soup was some of the best I have ever had! However after receiving our bill and seeing we were charged $8 for the biscuits I was taken aback, especially after reading all the reviews about their complementary biscuits! I will revisit... More

By recommendation we found The Sweet Onion. And we have not been disappointed ! Nicely furnished. Very good, friendly and attentive service makes good recommendations. Great food, everything we had was very good, notably the burger beef. Good wine list. And a nice tiny bar where you either can sip a sole drink or wait until being seated. We were... More

Friday night, my Husband and I walked in 9:00 pm. We were greeted by a very warm and friendly Hostess. The setting is very romantic (Even in front of the kitchen). Wendy is a fantastic server! We each had an app... Ahi tuna and the fire roasted chicken spring roll. Both were perfect! I had a small garden salad with... More

Most attentive staff and wonderful food! Trout was perfectly prepared as were locally grown vegetables. Our waitress was exceptional. Don't miss it! Need to try onion soup next time. Heard it's fabulous.

I went in for a light meal so I cannot speak to their main menu. I ordered a salad and onion rings. The salad was good with pecans and dried cranberries but was small. The complimentary garlic biscuits were very bland. I took two bites and it was like eating nothing. The equally tasteless onion rings were like garnish for... More

We tried the Sweet Onion on the recommendation of the Adon Reid Inn-keepers and were not disappointed. We started out with some locally brewed beer and moved on to some of the best bar-b-que ribs we've every had. Highly recommend reservations so you are not disappointed.

We enjoyed the Sweet Onion after a long trek up to the mountains. There was an hour wait on a Friday night, so we wandered around Main Street while we waited. My husband has the ribeye, while I enjoyed crab cakes with sautéed vegetables and scalloped potatoes. Delicious. Many gluten free options are available, and the staff was very knowledgable... More

Just visited the Sweet Onion again during the recent cool snap. Food was very good and comforting enough. We had the same server as last time. Very attentive, very knowledgeable => very good. I had a trout filet over risotto and my wife had the shrimp and grits. Both very good. The tea glass never got very low before it... More
