We ate at Bourbon Barrel for the first time in a year last night at a friend's recommendation. Everyone from the the greeter to the bartender to the chef was courteous and friendly. We ate at the bar since we didn't plan ahead and make a reservation. The wine list is a good one and the bar is well-stocked. Between... More

The design of this restaurant - all hard surfaces, no barriers or baffles- means that the noise level is almost painful. Add in the loud antics of the hostess at the desk (someone at the table next to us said she was an owner) and it's definitely not a pleasant experience unless you are already part of a large noisy... I regret hearing that your experience with us was less than stellar. I especially regret hearing that you found the noise level to be painful, specifically myself. That is not how I want to, nor try to conduct my business. It can be loud in here, but that's the sound of people having fun! We are in the process of... More

A wonderful Saturday evening dinner. We had reservations and were greeted warmly. We waited no more than 5 minutes for our table to be ready. We enjoyed the spicy shrimp/fried green tomato appetizer (split it and it was perfect!). We split a wedge salad (again: just enough!) Then we both had steaks (what else would you have here!). The one... More

This is a very small, little local place in the small town of Hazelwood. Great atmosphere, informal setting and friendly staff. A s,all bar is well stocked and has a good selection of local craft brews. We had dinner with a group pf friends, so we tried all different dishes from the menu and specials of the day. We started... I ordered outside the traditional steak menu and had the golden stuffed pepper. It was very flavorful and I enjoyed it very much . The seasoning was slightly Mediterranean. My partner had a very good steak but alas, no baked potato. The only downside was a tiny table without enough space for all of our dishes. Bread pudding is fantastic.

Love this place! Great food, excellent service, and warm friendly atmosphere! For bourbon drinkers they have a very extensive selection! We had steak and salmon and both meals were great!

The Bourbon Barrel is located in the Hazelwood section of Waynesville, NC, which is only a couple of miles from downtown Waynesville, just off US Hwy 74. It is a great restaurant with plenty of parking on the street and in a parking lot across the street from the restaurant. Very easy access, and very casual. Reservations, particularly for the... First time to dine here. Could not have been better. I started with the oyster appitizer, I had been in Florida the week before and the oysters at this restaurant were far and above better than the ones I got in Florida. For dinner I ordered the flank steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was great! Finally, the service... More

My college roommate and I were in Waynesville for a couple of days and found ourselves having dinner at Bourbon Barrel Beef & Ale. We were not disappointed. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I had the shrimp and grits. Delicious. My friend had the Voodoo Pasta. It was wonderful, according to her report. The servings were plentiful -... More
