Best dining experience in a long time

Just got back from dinner at this restaurant in Waynesville, NC. Initially we were disappointed that we were eating in Waynesville because we had hoped to eat our final dinner on this 5-day trek in Asheville where we had spent most of the last two days. Timing didn't work out so we decided to... read more

We were hungry when we arrived, but that wasn't the only reason we chowed down on every single bite of what was served to us. It was all very good--from the beer to the appetizers to our main courses. No one had any bourbon, but even without it we recommend this place for dinner!

Mere words cannot describe what a great place this is. It is off the beaten main street path in Waynesville, but just outside downtown. Once people experience the great restaurannt this is, it will be hidden no more! Everything was delightful, the atmosphere, the service, and ahh, yes,THE FOOD! The entrees are themselves all accompanied wonderfully on their own, but... More

We were a party of six our first visit, and four on our second. Both times, the food was very good and the service excellent. There were a quality issue the second visit, which was promptly resolved. We would not hesitate to recommend Bourbon Barrel to our B&B guests looking for a great steak dinner in a pleasant atmosphere.

I love this place. Its a rare trip out to Waynesville and there are certainly many other restaurants around but why tempt fate! The first meal here was outstanding and now the second. A REAL Caesar Salad just to name a few points of why I like this place. Great setting, awesome service and the kitchen troops are always VERY... More

The gal at the coffee house next door (Smokey Mountain Roasters - great coffee) said they had good burgers and fries here. So we went. She was right. My cheeseburger was a perfect medium. The steak fries are crispy on the outside, well seasoned and great. My wife had a gyro and salad. She thought the gyro was good but... More

I hv enjoyed the fare at the Barrel many times..& while the cuts of meat are delicious and full of flavor..the cost is a bit overpriced and extreme..:( a backyard grill..alongside some flavorful seasonings..could feed a family of four, rather than a party of one with these "holy cow" prices... Service was kind

We were a party of six. This restaurant was a pleasure on so many levels. Most importantly, it is clean. The wait staff is cordial and attentive. I am the vegetarian in the group and picky. The menu had several selections for a vegetarian. Beyond that, here is a direct quote from their website: "We serve regionally raised antibiotic and... More

Took a chance on a little restaurant in sleepy waynesville while on spring break. What a great find. Lovely facility with excellent food and excellent service. All of the staff were great and their sense of humor was great fun. All of our meals were simply delicious. You must try the shrimp and grits!
