Should have been a clue. The food was okay, nothing great. With seafood abundant in the area, this place lacked well prepared food. The only diner in our group who like the food had the baked potato skins appetizer.

10 years ago, when the Down Under was located at the pier, it was a GREAT place to eat. They had the best burgers I'd ever eaten. I don't know if new owners took over after the hurricane or what, but ever since it moved across Hwy 12 it has not been good. I really want to like this place.... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local at the pier. There are not a lot of options in the area. Honestly, it was kind of run down and definitely needs a remodel, but we had lunch out on the back deck overlooking the sound. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had hushpuppies which were really good, and I... More

First time to Outer Banks. We went last night with 4 children under 6 years old and this restaurant didn't mind a bit. I had wings that were amazing and a basket of hush puppies (arguably best hush puppies ever). Kids had chicken strips and awesome fries and my husband had fish...he liked it. Not much around Waves/Salvo/Rodanthe but this was... More

Years ago Down Under Restuarant was located by the Rodanthe fishing pier. The food was wonderful and they seemed to have a very good business, especially with the hotel and pier located right by it. However, when it closed, Debbie opened a smaller restuarant on the sound called the Tiki. The food was reasonably priced and as before, outstanding. We... More

Was very disappointed and all good reviews were either A. From the owner or B. Friends of owner we had eight people at our party and not one good meal poor quality... More

My husband was right when the parking lot is empty STAY AWAY! I said come on give it a try. It seemed so strange that the parking lot was empty at 9:00 am and we were the only customers in the whole restaurant. The wait staff was friendly and brought the food less then five minutes of ordering. The food... More

I should have read the reviews on this place before I walked in. $20 for Tortellini dish and salad was a joke. It was basically a small appetizer. The menu choice was very limited. Also don't sit upstairs. They had the blinds closed making you feel like you were in a closet. Three TV's showing different shows and XM radio... More

I am very sorry you were unhappy about your meal portions and thereby the price. I write all of the descriptions of the meals to give an idea of what we have. While we have not had tortellinis on the menu for many years, I have had many comments that were positive. I am in the process of reviewing the... More

My DH and I read the reviews on Trip Advisor, and since the recent ones were positive decided to try this restaurant, and we're glad we did. I had the fresh fish of the day, which was excellent and did not need either tartar sauce or lemon juice (or anything else) to enhance its flavor. DH had the fish tacos,... More

My husband and I really appreciate your review. While we appreciate all reviews, it is nice to receive one like yours. We encourage all customers to talk to Debbie or Ron while you are with us, if you have had an unsatisfactory meal (or if everything was good). There might be something we can do to improve on your meal... More
