Just ate there for lunch after a morning of adventuring. Generous portions - we'll be eating leftovers for dinner. They have lots of awards on the wall for good reason. Pulled pork was great, collards almost as good as mine (and I'm told that's saying something) will definitely recommend and return.

We stopped here for lunch today and it was great. I convinced my wife and friend to try the fried pickles. They were delicious and enjoyed by all. Even though fried, the pickles were not at all greasy, which is what we found for other fried foods as well, such as the hush puppies. We all had the platter with... More

Went to Okie Dokies for the first time today based on recommendation when visiting Black Mountain. I have eaten a lot of BBQ in the last 30 years in western NC. This was the best I have had with no sauce added. I ate the pulled pork plate without sauce! Not only that, the hush puppies and fried pickles were... More

Had lunch here with 4 adults and 2 young children. We wanted a casual place with some good NC barbeque, unfortunately we were totally disappointed with the food. First we ordered the popular fried pickles and an order of jalapeno hush puppies. The pickles were tasty but there was a deep puddle of grease that made all the bottom layer... More

Today I ordered my usual vegetable plate - have eaten here many times happily before - today it was inedible. Black eyed peas so overcooked they were beige mush and completed saturated with slivers of meat this vegetarian couldn't easily pick out. Collards were swimming in oil/grease? and way too much pepper. Macaroni and cheese was not a casserole anyone... More

Great cheese Grits and Jalapeno Hush Puppies, I have been twice and service is great. I had the chopped pork both times and it was very good, will try ribs next time.

We were visiting the Asheville area and looking for BBQ (as usual). Found this place and tried a few things to be sure it was good before doing a take out order: Pulled Pork, smokehouse ribs and beef BBQ for main dishes. Also got some southern fired pickles and jalapeno hush puppies. Excellent food, some of the best we've had.... More

We are used to sliced brisket and this was chopped, so a little different. Beef brisket had good flavor and big portion. Fried pickles were good & jalapeño hushpuppies were awesome. Collard greens were good. Fried okra was from frozen but okay. Baked beans were canned and gross. We are BBQ connoisseurs and check out many local BBQ places. Baked... More

To be clear, we got takeout from their drive-through location in Candler and have not eaten yet at the sit down restaurant in Swannanoa. This is a limited menu with no ribs available. We took home a pound of their pulled pork - very good, and it gave us the equivalent of four sandwiches. Came with a good sweet bbq... More
