Yes, Mrs Dianne the owner cleaned the roof of grease, put new roof on, rebuilt the stairs, re-painted, kept it open for a little while then leased it out to another person. The other person, who owns Bristo ruined the food, ran up prices weekly, so the customers say, and the rudeness of the new owner was not tolerable. The... More

The Batts family Mrs Dianne, Little Kenny redid the outside completely, but the new management that leased the restaurant ruined the food, and prices, not to mention the rudeness of wait staff, kitchen staff, and rude management. Hope someone good opens it up again,

Its a sad day when an Icon-Landmark is destroyed by new management. What ever happened to southern hospitality? It is no longer at this establishment. Don't bother going. They have not only raised their prices, but no longer serve their famous home cooked breakfast.. I always was a fan of dinners and dives.. Not this one anymore.. so sad.. Shame... More

We avoided Batts for years because the grease on the roof grossed us out. When we heard they had new management, and the roof was cleaned, we decided to try it out. Sadly, we were disappointed. The food was bland. My husband didn't even finish his (which is VERY rare!) My fish wasn't fresh...but it sure had a "fresh" cost!... More

Unfortunately this grill is under new management. We have gone twice a day for years both bfast and supper with no problems. Order arrived completely different from our order or mixed up (father got the fries and scallops and daughter had fried shrimp on plate- had ordered the broiled scallops). Cook could be heard berating our group order that we... More

Loved the pancakes, bacon crispy and good! Member of our party did not like the biscuits and gravy but she wasn't used to the NC way. Hostess was a little rude and odd but service was super friendly and new paint and fans make this a good breakfast choice

I've been coming to Surf City for 4 years. I had breakfast and dinner there almost every night. This year I went for dinner, they did not even have grilled chicken for the salad nor did they have chicken tenders. Settled for the pork chops were deep fried and the green beans were aweful. Not sure they came out of... More

Unfortunately I did not read the reviews before trying it out. Chicken was dry, service sucked and it was kinda pricey. Bad way to start our vacation. Will not return.
