Great Location for Family/Friends Dining

Our table was a quiet one so we were able to enjoy the company of friends and their daughter. Waitress was super -- showed the 8 y.o. guest a bunch of huge spiders and their webs. Calamari was delicious and uniquely presented on a bed of lettuce and interesting garnishes. Shrimp and grits was a... read more

Two words "duck crepe's". The crepes are delightful and they offer a season menu with a great flare. I've tried the buffalo meatloaf and the fillet and both were delicious. Reservations are required.

Came here with friends to enjoy an evening on the outdoor porch. Waiter was excellent and ambiance was nice. Menu had some very creative dishes. Shared the calamari appetizer. Very nice flavor without the normal fried taste. I had the low country gumbo, which was tasty and chock full of good stuff, but a bit too salty. Wife had the... More

The Live Oak is one of our favorites! You can dine in one of the ecclectic dining rooms in the historic home or on the back screened-in veranda. They have unique crafted cocktails and true culinary delights. You simply can't go wrong with anything on their menu. We have been there several times and have ALWAYS had perfection. Oh and... More

Expectations were high based on others comments about the restaurants food. Excellent but for special occasions was the most popular comment. We had a party of 9 and the restaurant is basically a house converted into a series of dining rooms. The food was exceptional as well as the service. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of... More

My fiancé and I ate dinner here on a Friday night in Southport. Very intimate, upscale dining room. Our waitress was fabulous and even lent us reading glasses as we had forgotten ours! Drinks were wonderful. Spinach salad was delicious. I got the eggplant special and it was very delicious, I loved it. My fiancé got buffalo, he wasn't crazy... More

We had a wonderful dinner! Seafood crepes with poached shrimp and lobster was really special. We took our left overs and made omelets with them this morning!

Drove by this place and thought it looked cute. Decide to come the next night for dinner. One of the best meals we have ever had. Ambience, food and service were fantastic! Andrew was our waiter and couldn't have been better. Had the Mediterranean seafood bake which was to die for and my husband had shrimp and grits which was... More

This has to be the best restaurant in Southport, NC. My husband and I had dinner one night at Live Oak Cafe while visiting Southport for the day. The ambiance is quaint and romantic and our server was very helpful and knew the menu well. Wine selection is excellent, as well as food selection. My husband had the Pheasant dish... More

This quaint cottage houses a lovely restaurant where every detail is well thought out. Our waiter was very helpful, and always knew the answers to our questions. The food was mostly locally sourced and the ingredients were fresh. I had the tuna steak with grilled peaches and arugula. Fabulous! Others with me had the scallops and trout. All were very... More
