The duck crepes were so beyond what we expected, could have easily had an order each vs sharing. Musts have deliciousness! Salmon special was delicious (and pacific salmon - score!). Entrees were delicious - we had trout, salmon special, ribeye, seafood pasta dish, and scallops au gratin. Our server, Brandy, was wonderful -- great mix of peppy and personable with... More

After a horrible experience at The Pharmacy, we raced down to Live Oak since it does close earlier than we are used to. Luckily a table was getting up and we were able to be seated. The food what phenomenal! Service was fantastic and attentive and the owner per our request even came out. Duck Crepes - you must try.... More

We rode by this restaurant for several years before deciding to try this. Why? Because it reminded me of my Granny's rundown house in the Ozark's in Arkansas. There is nothing inviting visually from the first step on the porch. It's a hodgepodge of consignment store relics to me. In fact, the round table on the screened porch where we... More

Loved it, and we will be back the next time we come to Bald Head Island /Southport. Ambience, Ambience, Ambience from our first steps through the door. Set in a charming house with tasteful decor. Semi-private dining in little rooms off the main hallway. Extensive wine list. Eclectic menu, mostly seafood but also beef and took these classic entrees and... More

This is the second year that we've gone to this restaurant. The first time we only went for dessert, but this time we went for dinner. It is a very quaint little house that only has 9 tables inside. We had made reservations but it turned out we didn't need them because we were the only ones there. After we were seated,... More

I've eaten there before and always enjoyed the food, and this visit was also very good. It's in a small house a mile or two from the river, lovely space, lots of small rooms turned into dining rooms. Maybe it was just an anomaly the night I was there, but I think there were maybe two other parties in the... More

Beautifully prepared dinner, gracious service, quiet, wonderful evening in old frame house. Expensive for a night out but worth it.

This was our first visit but won't be our last. We got there around 8 and we had the front dinning room to ourselves. They had a good selection of wines and the menu offers a wide range of options. Our table had the Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp Pasta and I had the ribeye. My steak was cooked perfect and... More

Just there last week again and we are never disappointed. The scallops au gratin are the best ever, large with crab and the best flavor. We love the jasmine rice and fresh steamed veg. Quaint setting and small rooms. Make a reservation. the service is excellent as is the food.

My husband and I fell in love with The Live Oak Cafe on our first trip to Southport 10 years ago and go there as often as we can. Sean and his staff always make us feel so welcome and special. The food is exceptional and the menu quite different from others in the area. It has a unique atmosphere,... More
