If you're looking for something a little different in Southport, try their local art walk on the first Friday of the month, then grab dinner somewhere. We decided to try Ports of Call which was highly recommended and they were full, but offered us a high table by the bar with no wait. Our table was extremely rickety and rocked... More

We enjoyed our evening at Ports of Call in the charming historic village of Southport. The Catch of the Day was grouper with lobster and crab topping over a pea risotto. The fish was delicious, the portions ample. The risotto was nice but could have used a little more seasoning. My husband's veal Marsala was wonderful. The service was excellent,... More

The first 'Excellent' I've given in a while. I was visiting Southport and ate at Ports of Call on a recommendation from a few of the locals I'd met. It is a small restaurant and when we walked in towards the end of dinner service on a Tuesday night, it was PACKED. There was 1 table available and we were... More

Simply put, the best meal (lunch) we've had during our two week vacation in the Carolina beach area. Everything was home made and delicious plus the service was exemplary. A must go location.

We were walking around Southport looking for a place to eat dinner when we stumbled upon Ports of Call. The atmosphere was pleasant. We ordered 2 apps beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon also a mozzarella tomato bruschetta . The beef was tender but there was too much bacon wrapped on each piece and not crispy as one would expect .... Before 'calling it a day', stopped in at Ports of Call for a light meal. We were immediately seated at the exact same table where starring actors for "Safe Haven" enjoyed a meal / filmed. The hostess shared a few minutes of pleasant conversation and promptly sent our server over. Ordered wine - based on his recommendation - which was... More

It was our first visit to the Southport area and we wanted a really nice dinner, and we found it. Ports of Call was fabulous. I think half of our group of 8 had the scallops and they were delicious. Also had a great wine list. I highly recommend the "Educated Guess" wine. Everything from the salads to the desserts... More

Wasn't quite sure about this bistro but gosh what a great surprise!!!! Excellent service and food. We would definitely eat here again! We recommend the Cuban sandwich, oysters, their daily special corn chowder with peach tomato bruschetta and even the cheeseburger were great.

What used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Southport let me down last night - primarily due to the service. Our waiter did not introduce himself, which is something most diners have come to expect. After all, the person serving you is an integral part of your dining experience. To begin with, I asked for the... More
