I had not eaten at this location since I was a teen, and decided to try it again. It's true, there is a reason for no waiting on a Saturday evening. The service was slow, but courteous. However, the food was not hot, and the stuffed flounder was absolutely full of bones. The waterfront view is great, but it does... More

The ONLY good thing I can say is the view us nice. Our waiter didn't have a personality. The building is old and smells musty. My grandson who is 1 was crying and we were asked to control him and they began to tell my son-in-law how to be a parent. So we canceled our order and left. So if... More

This restaurant has the best view in Southport. Unfortunately, the interior is old, musty and sad. My husband and I ate lunch here a few weeks ago for first time this summer. We both had the fried seafood plate. Must have been frozen definitely not fresh.

We typically eat at Cape Fear every summer. This will be our last summer dining at Cape Fear. The service was less than desirable. My husband and I ordered the surf and turf. Both of our steaks were burnt black and crispy. We ordered them medium and medium well. The shrimp was good as usual but they were out of... More

We were vacationing on Oak Island the past week and decided to go out for seafood. Our first choice on the island was booked out the door at 4:30pm, so we opted for an old favorite. We used to eat here when it was referred to as the Ships Chandler. A better waterfront view you cannot get. The food however... More

I've eaten at the Cape Fear several times and have never had bad service or bad food. I don't understand all the complaints. As for the statement the parking lot is a mud hole, evidently someone got their restaurants mixed up because there is paved parking in front of and on the side of the restaurant.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the place smelled musty. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. I ordered crabcakes, and they had more filler than crab. Although the view was nice, the windows were dirty. Service was OK.

Manager was apologetic based on our experience last evening. That did not change the fact that the entrees were cold, and service was mediocre. In the past, this was not the case. Not sure if there is new ownership or what. At any rate, I would not recommend.

We checked out the A-List places, but the wait was too long. Next time I'll bring my patience. I also will consult tripadvisor! This would be a great place for a good restaurant. View is awesome, but it ends there. For a place on the water you'd think they'd serve fresh seafood. I am pretty sure this stuff came out... More

I had reviewed this place on a trip last year and gave it an extra star for the location. We were fooled by the location and went back recently. 40+ minutes for hush puppies that we ordered, then a manger come out and asked if we still wanted them. It was hot as heck in there and we were all... More
