good food but tepid service

the food is good, tasty and creative, the service is spotty. Our waitress was not responsive to our requests and spent most of the evening talking to a customer on the other side of the restaurant. The french onion soup is very thick with cheese. The salads are good, The main course salmon well... read more

Staff is always accommodating and friendly at Chef Warrens! It seems fancy and upscale by the menu and decor but they have kids books and a great kids menu and the wall of booth seating is great for trapping in a two year old. We ate most of his fish and chips it was so good! I had the ceviche... More

Really should be 4.5. Chef Warren's had fallen off of our restaurant radar but a recent visit has returned it to front and center. Went with another couple on a Friday evening. Friendly and a bit eclectic atmosphere. Ask about the snow globes. Outstanding entrees. The swordfish and pork rib eye were winners. Our waiter heard us wishing happy birthday... More

I immediately felt at home in this place. Terrific meal. I especially loved the Kangaroo appetizer. Just fantastic. I also really dug the grouper. This is the sort of place I wished I lived so I could go here more often.

A formal meal, high end, but comfortable, serene, and welcoming. Excellent cocktails and coffee. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their magic right in front of you. Some esoterica on menu, but if you like culinary adventures, this is your spot in Southern Pines.

Wonderful meal in a great setting. We had personal attention from the owner and the food was off the charts good. Can't wait to return!

We made reservations for four 2 weeks prior to our visit. When we arrived for our reservations we were told that the computer system had crashed and it would be 5-10 mins. No problem! They asked us to wait "in the middle of the restaurant" which was incredibly awkward as servers were constantly trying to pass us and we were... More

A delightful family-run bistro restaurant in an appealing location. Welcoming, knowledgeable staff had the details of the enterprising dishes, and wines, at their fingertips. Service was sensitive and supportive, efficient yet not insistent. The food was copious and delicious, the wine splendidly complementary. When revisiting Southern Pines I should be glad to revisit Chef Warrens.

My wife and I had dinner at Chef Warren's last night and it was a wonderful experience. She had a crab and corn soup and I started with the chilled crab tacos. Both were delicious and we would want to order them again upon our next visit if the are still on the menu. As for entrees, my wife had... More

Went to Chef Warrens last saturday night. It was busy and we didn't have a reservation, but the lovely hostess got us in. We started with Martini's (Pomegranate, and Watermelon).which were good sizes and very refreshing (it was 90 degrees outside). I started with the country pate which was one of the best I have ever eaten (if you like... More
