Delicious!!

Our family of 5 recently had breakfast there while vacationing to Sunset Beach. Everything was so wonderfully prepared and very reasonably priced! We also bought two pieces of homemade cake to go for later in the day. We will definitely be back for more meals each time we visit the beach!

The food here is awesome and very reasonably priced. The servings are "southern" generous and the fresh baked pastries look and smell delicious. The servers could use a course in hospitality, but overall it was quite a pleasant experience and I look forward to dining there again soon!

Food is great and so is the service. Homemade bread and deserts. Located on main street in Shallotte.

There is always a line, it is very noisy, you sit pretty close together and you cannot finish your meal. Portions are large, the food is good, the service is fast and you must stop at the bakery on the way out. You will leave satisfied.

Omelettes are good. Crab cake sandwiches with homemade chips are very good. The pancakes are Aunt Jemima (I saw the boxed mix in their storage room there once). The fruit is fruit cocktail from a can...yuck! Baked goods are yummy. Be prepared to wait a little bit. If you order correctly, you will be pleased.

I learned of the Purple Onion Cafe from my wife and her friends who had eaten there on one of the trips to Holden Beach. Last year was my first time and this year it was even better. The food is very good, generous portions, fresh vegetables, and wait staff are great! It's one big room without sound blocking acoustics,... More

On our first visit, we were greeted by a waitress eating her lunch at a table up front. We didn't see the sign asking us to wait to be seated so she stopped us to have a brief discussion over where we should sit, she said it was her turn, but it took me a moment to find out what... More

We had lunch there today. My wife had the crab cake sandwich with the key lime cilantro tarter sauce and she loved it. I had the Western Hamburger with French Fries. FF's don't impress me much but theirs were brow raisers!! Cooked just right, hot and very good. My hamburger was just right. Messy, drippy, chili, red onion, lettuce, beans... More

Our family of 18 stopped in the grab a late breakfast and the staff was very accommodating by seating us at two tables. The food was great. Healthy portions. As always - we come back here every vacation!

We have dined at this location on two separate times of year...Each time, there was a line of people waiting to get a seat to enjoy! All around, this place has the recipe for great eats! We highly recommend to anyone traveling to the area....Everything is fresh, and delicious. Especially the homemade chips! The desserts they offer are baked at... More
