The food is excellent, and the service is wonderful! The shrimp are fresh, and the carnitas are tender! Good pico, salsa, and guacamole complete the picture!
We went to San Felipe while staying at Holden Beach in search of something a little different. We were most satisfied. My wife had the seafood combination - burrito, quesadilla and chimi stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms, zucchini, etc. The other two of us had Chicken Tapatio - grilled chicken breast with mushrooms, onion, etc. - covered in cheese sauce plus... Middle of nowhere...But Shallotte NC holds a secret...one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been in. Menu was lovely, service was great..food was superb. We saw it was highly rated, but didn't have much hope here in the midst of all the fried sea food places. But we were totally delighted and would recommend to anyone.
This was a recommendation and turned out to be a very good one. Food was reasonable priced and you got quite a bit for the money. My wife now has lunch for tomorrow because her helping of beef fajita was huge. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Best Mexican food we have found in the area.
Then I would recommend that you stop here. Salsa was good. And very authentic. Service was quick and friendly. Large servings and very hot. I would highly suggest that you make a trip here and try it.
The food is excellent and the service is comensurate. The prices are great and the food is perfect. We go every time we go to OIB.
Have eaten there many times and never had a bad experience. The tacos are delicious, the rice is flavorful without being spicy, the beans are very tasty. I like the pico de gallo and their salads are always fresh. The fajitas are out of this world good, the burritos are good too. Chicken plates very tasty. The service has always... More
It's a shame when you enter a restaurant and the manager seats you, serves you and has that "I DON'T CARE" attitude. My friend and I have this ongoing debate about San Felipe and San Jose in Shallotte, NC. She likes San Jose in the Loew's shopping plaza and I am partial to San Felipe because being from Oak Island... More
My wife liked this place a lot more than me. My food, vegetarian frajitas, was average for the usual run of Mexican restaurants, which is to say not very good, but not bad either. The salsas were entirely bland, except, perhaps for the salsa verde, but none had any heat, even though I asked for a spicy, hot salsa. The... More
I would say, good for what it is and where it is located. The restaurant was very clean, the service was good, there were lots of salsa's available when we asked and they were provided at no additional charge. One of the teens with us had a taco salad and dubbed it "the best" she'd ever had. My husband ordered... More
