Excellent Food and Service

Sheltered outdoor seating, as well as indoor. Very nice menu and you can get flights of wine selections to be able to try various wines. They also have good pizza, as well as a normal varied menu. We ate here twice for dinner.

nothing to dislike, outdoor eating available, try the local wine . Craft beers on tap. frequent music guest performers. Crowd a mix of young and older. Great fun.

Since we live in Saluda we've been to the Onion many times and never been disappointed. The ambience is great and it has an beautiful outdoor patio for the warmer weather. Also has very good music on a regular basis.

Lunch yesterday w/ a friend + his 5 kiddos and we were able to sit at two 4 tops in their ample outdoor seating area; the wrought iron tables were ready w/their umbrellas open and welcoming, almost as much so as the staff. Saluda was rocking and busy with a lot of happy folks there for the annual Arts Festival,... More

I was here with a group of friends and everyone had something different. Everything was very good. The sandwiches, soups, wraps, and appetizers were awesome. We sat outside on beautiful day in the mountains.

We have eaten here twice. And, it's simply GREAT! Great food, lots of variety, nice wine selection, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff, freshly made desserts, AND fun music on Thursdays - Saturdays....honkey tonk piano when we were there last. They even have some Gluten Free pizza! This is a small place, not noisy, but friendly. BUT...make reservations, or you probably will... More

This is one of the few eateries in town, and thankfully it is a good one. We were here only for a weekend and on both Friday and Saturday nights they had live music. Weather was nice so we sat in the outside patio. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the specials and the menu and described them in such... More

My wife and I invariably go to the Purple Onion whenever we visit this area, but only for the entertainment, usually jazz or bluegrass. The food is unremarkable and some items are priced to the high side. The entree sized salad with chicken or the personal pizza seem to be the safest bets.

Beautiful setting but that's about the only good thing I can say about it. Not impressed at all. Visited based on reviews here but very disappointed. First of all the waitress was very uninterested. Secondly the menu was very limited - I struggled to find something that appealed to me! I wanted a salad but when you look at what's... More

This was a strange one for me because the atmosphere was stunning, the owner was very nice, the food was very good, but the price was way too high, the selection of choices were not plentiful or inviting, and portions were small. The inside of the restaurant was very cozy and chic. It had a rustic yet modern look; enjoyable... More
