Great food but slow service

This place has won many awards and the food is great. However the service is very slow and we were place in an outer area with fans on an extremely hot day. They need more staff and proper cooling facilities. Having said all this the food was great

We arrived in the Barossa at around 8.30pm and were concerned we wouldn't find anywhere to eat as most places seemed to close very early. Luckily we found the 40's Cafe. Quite an extensive menu for a pizza place in a nice setting (the outdoor area). The staff were very friendly and were happy to serve us even though they... More

We had lunch here and it was really nice and good atmosphere. They advertise best pizza in Oz and it really was a very good pizza. The service was very good and most accomodating. Well done.

Heard about this restaurant and its award winning pizza and was out our fist stop. The food didn't disappoint. We tried a variety of pizzas and every one was delicious. Only downer was price of wine and corkage. We were in the Barossa Valley!!!

This is a great place to eat, fantastic food, beverages & service. Great atmosphere, it was that good we went back the next day and will return when in the area again.

Great customer service from friendly, pleasant staff is always a plus and this restaurant doesn't disappoint. Food was good with a nice selection, though surprisingly and disappointingly for me, no Burger on the menu. Oddly enough, there is a Burger on their take-away menu. The name "40's Cafe" suggests a nostalgic theme and while the decor tries hard it does... More

While enjoying a special occasion weekend away in the Barossa Valley, we enjoyed dinner here. It's clearly popular with the locals and we enjoyed polite but casual service and meals. The meal portions vary in size from quite large gourmet pizzas to modestly sized curries. The wine list is quite satisfactory too. All very enjoyable and I'd be happy to... More

Best pizza in Australia award the sign says. Big statement but I would have to say it is justified! Very busy the night we were there with sit in meals and takeaways but the service was great and meals served promptly. Would certainly go again if I was visiting Angaston in the future.

This little café boasted being voted as having the best Pizza in Australia but LOL it was in 2009. Still, it was nice pizza but definitely expensive at $34 for an 8 piece pizza. Bit cheeky so beware - if you get half and half they charge you the price of the most expensive side!! (one side was worth $25... More
