We were very impressed with the advise of the staff to eat 15 minutes either side of the big group to help with the timing of our meals. The quality of the food was excellent, especially the dukkah tasting plate and the pizzas. We were disappointed that the local Rehn beer producer did not have a hefferweizen beer to try... More

Saturday night so it was busy with takeaway. We ordered Snitzel which was $27 and very ordinary. $7 for 4 pieces of garlic bread, very thin and tasteless, and a small pizza spinach and feta which also had bacon, blue vein. The blue vein absolutely overwhelmed it and very little spinach $22. Wished wed have gone to the pub. Very... More

We ordered pizza to go from here, and were very impressed! Quality toppings, not-too-thick base, and great service. Couldn't ask for more! The award winning pizza with Schulz bacon was FANTASTIC!

There are so many run down takeaway joints in little country towns like Angaston. The 40s Café clearly started out that way, but has found a new niche. The small original store has clearly branched out to and taken in an outdoor deck eatery and large indoor dining room. The pizza menu is pretty interesting, with a variety of interesting... More

Enjoyed our late lunch here at this bustling place. We had 5 medium pizzas among 10 people which was almost but not quite enough. The Smokey was definitely the best--can see why it won the award for best pizza in Australia--but the spinach and feta, Moroccan chicken and margarita were all great as well, with lots of toppings and a... Stopped here for lunch whilst visiting the wineries. Very friendly staff. The group ordered Asian duck risotto , 2 lots if fish and chips and one spinach and feta pizza. The fish was great and the risotto apparently was great. My pizza was tasteless. Has better from dominoes I'm afraid. Good atmosphere and generally ok

Thought it was lovely to sit out on the deck on a hot day for a late lunch. Had the Roaring 40s (?) pizza and it was delicious. It was a bit expensive but the food was good so didn't mind so much.

We figured that if they had won lots of awards could not really go wrong. That was our first mistake! When you look closely you see that they haven't won an award in years which says a lot. Pizzas were majorly overpriced, the place is a takeaway place with some tables in it - we were told we could only... More

Interesting ‘pizza’ place, quiet varied pizza menu. Had the lamb and potato based pizza, was a little bland. Partner had the mediterranean, and it was more flavoursome. Worth a visit for a quick bite.
