Rustic Yummy Food

It's a dine in or takeaway cafe so don't expect fine dining. What you do get is friendly service in a warm snug environment, essential on a ice cold day, and scrumptious food. Our light lunch of soup and a pasta dish was great value. The soup was thick, fresh and delicious. The pasta cooked... read more

The restaurant is the most fun place to eat and is always busy. The takeaway is even busier. A great atmosphere too.

What do you get when you have 2 menus, untrained staff, a robot manager and an owner so inflexible it wouldn't allow the customer to buy the food of choice? - a very, very bad experience. Let me explain. This cafe has a take-away menu and a sit-down menu. The take-away menu includes pizza, burgers and roast chicken. The sit... More

Well I don't know why they call it 40's cafe cause nothing about it resembles the 40's. Me and my daughter stopped here for a late lunch. The food was very nice but a little high priced for a remote location. The staff were friendly and polite. Definitely happy to go back again.

Hey its a cafe afterall. The pizzas are meant to be the best having won lots of awards a few years back. Hence they are now overpriced for gourmet pizzas - not quite on the mark. Cafe furnishings - okay beer and wine options but certainly not extensive.

We went to 40's Cafe for lunch on the recommendation of the wine ambassador of a top winery nearby - the name would otherwise not attracted our interest. It is far from being an retro pizzeria but one with dash of energy and creativity in its pizzas and the devilish looking cut cakes at the counter. The cafe has won... More

Best pizza in the barossa and even in the state. Ring up and order if getting takeaway cos on weekends they can be really busy. Have a dinning room and the deck for eating in. Very generous with toppings

Dingy old eat in with lots of flies and uncomfortable chairs. Expect to clear your own table as waitress staff just wont. Pizzas are OK but we wont be back. Can get just as good if not better locally.

We had been told of the Roaring 40's by our accommodation owner, and that they have won awards for their pizza, plus they made gluten free pizza. My wife is a coeliac and a pizza is the last thing she can eat, so once we heard that they make them gluten free, a visit was planned. The restaurant is not... More
