Be forewarned. This little restaurant is just that - little. And not much to look at. But they do have really good food. They have been around for decades. I was introduced to 2nd Street Lunch by my husband who is from Roanoke Rapids. The first time he told me to get the hot dogs with everything, including both chili... More

Best Hot Dogs and Pizza Burger ever. No frills, good food, great service by hardworking employees. Don't miss getting the cheese fries!

Second Street Lunch will likely never see its food on magazine covers, but travelers visiting Roanoke Rapids who want more than fast food should definitely give it a try. A friend and I arrived around noon on a Monday to find the place filled with locals enjoying the mix of hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ and seafood. My friend and I... More

Anytime I visit home (Northampton County, I have to indulge in the most delicious, yet heart-damaging meal to on the planet... or at least on the other side of the Roanoke River in Roanoke Rapids NC. The “pizzaburger” is not seen listed on the menu, but knowing it is there keeps me coming back again and again.

If you like burgers and hot dogs, you have to check this place out. Sure, it's a greasy spoon type place, but you don't have to eat here every day. I ordered the burger with cheese and chili, the hot dog with chili and mustard and the fries. The fries were average but the burger and the dog more than... More

Having been to this tiny spot many times, I have never been disappointed in the excellent hot dogs (the cole slaw is the key) and burgers (try the Annwich). It's a local favorite, and has been written up in statewide publications. Can be crowded at lunch, and cash only, but it moves fast. Well worth the 10 minute drive off... More

A cozy little pop-in deli with table service. They specialize in hot dogs and hamburgers with chili and cole slaw. I'll say the hot dog was nothing special, but the cheeseburger was out of this world. They can get real crowded during lunch when the townfolks all break and head to their favorite place, but its always a short wait,... More

I love "hole in the wall" restaurants and looked forward to eating at the Second Street Lunch. The service was good. The food was average, at best. I would not go back.

Second Street Lunch is one of those off the beaten path restaurants you have to visit. I grew up going to Second Street and it is definitely a local institution. I highly recommend it! Here is an excellent article I suggest reading before you go: http://www.ourstate.com/second-street-lunch
