We have eaten here several times and have always found the salads, entrees and service to be excellent. The value is also outstanding. Our only complaint involves desserts. This restaurant seriously needs a pastry chef. We have never had a memorable dessert. Today our group got two desserts to share among the four of us. One was a chocolate mousse... More

My wife has German heritage and I spent almost two years in Germany in the 1960s. We were looking for a restaurant and we found J Bretski's on TripAdvisor. It was fairly late when we arrived, but we were very pleased with our meals and the service. If one enjoys German food, I recommend this establishment.

J. Betskis is one of our favorite restaurants in Raleigh and have eaten here countless times. Raleigh is lucky to have this place! It is an intimate spot, great for special occasions as well as just dropping in for a quick bite on the delightful patio or a German beer at the lovely bar. Don't miss the pirogues or the... More

We ate here at the recommendation of a friend and LOVED it! After living abroad for three years it was like being transported back to Europe. We loved everything we had from the beer to salad to sausage to spaetzle. It was all delicious and refreshing and all we can think about is going back!

This was our first visit, and we were very pleased. The BBQ and also the sweet corn perogies were amazing. Great selection of German beers to chose from and try. The entree selection was limited but the quality was amazing. Both entrees were great an we will return.

Excellent birthday dinner! We ordered several of the interesting sounding appetizers of the day as well as several from the menu to start out. Very creative preparations including foie gras, quark, etc! All were outstanding! Then most of us went with the pieroges and bratwurst or kielbasa but the pieroges had non traditional fillings that were very good! The bratwurst,... More

They offer different foods depending on the season. Lighter German fare in the summer and the heavier more known fares in the winter. All good. I generally don't think of German food in the summer because I have always known it to be great cold weather warm up food. The lighter fare is also good in the summer. If you... More

We walked here from our nearby B & B. The menu has some delicious Austrian/German offerings and a very unique beer menu. The beers were not the usual ones but rather ones that we might find in Europe. My husband had the foie gras stuffed bratwurst and I had a chicken stew with spatezle. Very homemade tastes. Our dessert was... More

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. Sometimes you go out for great food, sometimes for ambiance, sometimes just to be treated wonderfully and with grace. This restaurant does all these things incredibly well. The food is local and very fresh; inventive and beautifully prepared. The homemade sausages are melt-in-your-mouth delicious! You won't find better service anywhere. The wait staff are... More
