Updated German cuisine

It's been a while since I've eaten here but each time I found the entire meal wonderful. Growing up around traditional German food, J Betski's serves up surprisingly light dishes based on traditional recipes. But pace yourself or go with a group so you can sample more appetizers.

This is my favorite restaurant in Downtown Raleigh. The food is always good, been going for over 7 years and I have never been disappointed. You can eat outside or in. Try one of their cocktails and don't over look the prorogues. They are the best. I usually have the fish and it is always wonderful.

Austrian food in a casual and inviting atmosphere. Many employees have been at the restaurant since it opened. The owner is also the chef. Food is fresh and made in house. The cabbage/slaw/sauerkraut is great. Do not hesitate to try the specials. You will not be disappointed and will learn why it is a favorite in Raleigh.

I wouldn't expect to find good German in the seat of Wake Forest county but I should know better than to underestimate Raleigh and it's culinary offerings. Delicious brats and smoked sausages dominate the appetizer menu and pair perfectly with any of the authentic German beers on hand. Go with the tried and true schnitzel or venture into more adventurous... More

I like everything about this place. It was comfortable in an old world way, the service was excellent as was the food. I had the Fresh Kielbasa Sauerkraut with Spicy Mustard and the soup of the day which was a chilled creamy asparagus. The Kielbasa was perfect. It was dense but still very tender and full of flavor. The sauerkraut... More

Was in Raleigh for a shopping spree and we decided to hit J Betski's for lunch. Their home made sausages are the best and the Perogi's you just can't beat. So here's a suggestion. Get the Mixed plate, two styles of sausage, either the cabbage & mushroom or the potato & cheese perogi, and sauerkraut. The lighter color mustard is... More

Not your standard German cuisine. Takes the standards and makes them a bit more upscale and refined. Very good.

I went here for lunch because I had heard some good things about J. Betski's. Very good, and I am not a huge fan of German food. I had the Reuben hamburger, something I had never had before. A hamburger topped with pastrami, sauerkraut, 1000 island dressing. Fries on the side with their own blend of dipping sauce. Very good... More
