Description: We serve comfort food that celebrates our forefathers’s Mexican roots and the culinary traditions of the local neighborhood. "On the plate, “Mexican-Southern” translates to dishes such as chicharrones and waffles, and shrimp and masa “grits” with Chihuahua cheese. You can expect to see Southern staples such as okra and collard greens done in new ways, too. An emphasis on local sourcing means that even the chiles rellenos on the traditional side of the menu may not always be made with the standard poblanos." Greg Cox, N&O

I'd probably give this 3.5 stars. Went for a group birthday party. First drink came slowly but thankfully refills were quicker. The margarita is great but don't order by the pitcher - much too sweet when mixed that way. Fish tacos were delish but chicken was a bit too bland.

My husband and I ate here for NYE. We arrived early and had a few drinks at the bar before hand. The margaritas were delicious and being that it was NYE we received quick and attentive service. I ordered the skirt steak with blackened shrimp. It was delicious and I would definitely order it again. Our waiter was polite and... More

We went out to Jose and Sons for dinner last night. Overall, we had a great experience. I would rank it a 3.5. I don't give out 5 stars often and 4 is reserved for my ultimate favorites. I enjoyed Jose and Sons but, I'll have to dine a few more times before bumping it up. I definitely recommend it... More

This wasn't the first time we have eaten at Jose & Sons and it certainly won't be the last! We were looking for somewhere to make a reservation for a larger group, but were a little last minute in making the call. Luckily, they made an extra effort to fit us in! We took both sets of parents here, and... More

The Chef's picnic for two is amazing! They have fantastic margaritas. I suggest the spicy one! We have been a few times and we are never disappointed! Plus, it is in a great area! It is a great atmosphere for two and a fun place for a big group! The service was good. We be back!

We got together with a group of friends for our monthly dinner out. We failed to make reservations until day of and couldnt get seated until late, our fail, should have known better. We sat at the bar for about an hour prior to getting out table. The bar was great and the keeps were friendly. Only problem was that... More

My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion, which we informed the restaurant of when making the reservation on Open Table. Whatever I expected, they surpassed it multiple times over. From the welcoming comped glasses of Cava and flowers to the impeccable service, J&S was top drawer. Oh, and did I mention that the collard-wrapped tamales and churri &... More

I have tried quite a few items on their menu and have not been disappointed yet. The grilled corn is a must have and the ceviche is one of my all time favorites. The restaurant is very cool and the waitstaff is attentive. I dine here monthly.

To celebrate her new job, my wife and I offered to take our daughter-in-law out to dinner. We let her choose the spot and of course, our son was allowed to tag along. Jose and Sons is a Southern/Mexican fusion resturant in the trendy Warehouse district of downtown. The building was once a Cargo Depot and still has the original... More
