We serve comfort food that celebrates our forefathers’s Mexican roots and the culinary traditions of the local neighborhood. "On the plate, “Mexican-Southern” translates to dishes such as chicharrones and waffles, and shrimp and masa “grits” with Chihuahua cheese. You can expect to see Southern staples such as okra and collard greens done in new ways, too. An emphasis on local sourcing means that even the chiles rellenos on the traditional side of the menu may not always be made with the standard poblanos." Greg Cox, N&O

Nicely Done!

Our group was doing a guided Raleigh restaurant tour and this was our first stop. We had the Kale Mac & Cheese and the Barbacoa. They were both amazing. I also had a Michelada to drink that was fantastic. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Raleigh.

This place was formerly Jibarra Modern Mexican (same owners, same place). The decor has changed a little, the food is not any better. The server was awesome (Anna). The two dishes I tried had problems. The Chicharron and waffles seemed overwhelming, too much food and not that good. The ceviche had a strong vinegar taste, much more than usual ceviche.

What a wonderful place to go and get great food and relax! The environment is laid back and the staff are friendly and very welcoming. Try the skirt steak and blackened shrimp and kick back with a margarita!

Jose & Sons does not disappoint in any category. Every menu item we have tried has been amazing so far. We went for brunch one Sunday morning and had the Guadalajara Skillet and the Huevos Rancheros, and they were exceptional. Then I returned with my sister for dinner. I ordered the Barbacoa, which was tender and full of flavor. My... More

We finally made it to Jose and Sons and were not disappointed. This is a great restaurant, and everything on the menu sounded wonderful. Our party all tried different things and no one was disappointed. The regular guacamole is excellent, as is the salsa they bring to the table. We also ordered the special guacamole, and it was so hot!... More

had to go downtown to pick up some jeans and stopped in on a Sunday with the family. They have the best Bloody Mary in Raleigh. The mix is house made and comes with a beer chaser. The BLT tacos and chicken Caesar salad are amazing.

We went to Jose and Sons last night for a birthday dinner after doing the trolley pub nearby (lots of fun by the way). We had a reservation for 9:30 and it was a good thing because they were packed. They told us it was going to be a few minutes as there was another group who hadn't finished yet.... More

Waitresses are nice but food is insanely slow to the table. To make it worse I almost choked on a full chicken bone. You'd be better off going to any average Mexican food place. Bottom line: overpriced, slow service, and risk of choking.

good, casual dining Talented bartenders make some creative cocktails. Try the mussels: very tasty. Ceviche served in a creative way: comes in a small, glass crock. About $35 per person, drinks included, no dessert. About my ratings: In an effort to compare apples to apples, my ratings are strictly for establishments within thirty minutes travel of each-other. It makes no... More

We decided to go to Jose and Sons during restaurant week in Raleigh to celebrate an event with some friends. I made a reservation for our group of 8 two weeks prior. Our table was ready for us when we arrived at 6 however our reservation wasn’t until 7. The staff let us sit and enjoy our drinks in the... More
