Date night dinner before a play

My wife and I chose to enjoy a dinner at Poole's before heading to the play. This place is very trendy. We were seated quickly but there was a significant crowd waiting for a table when we left for the play at 7:00. Our two favorite selections were delivered first to our table: a baguette with... read more

Every time we have friend come from out of state we think "lets try Poole's". Now my husband HATES restaurants that don't take reservations but I made him promise that we would try one more time, this time for family. HUGE MISTAKE! I'm done here. Tonight we arrived at 5:30 (when they open) and were told that it would be... More

The food was good, very good, innovative, much better than what you would expect from a diner, we shared the pimiento cheese, very good just spicy enough, I had the spinach salad and my husband the pork chop with beans and prunes , a little sweet but all in all very good too. The problem is not the food or... More

A group of us went here and for most of us, it was our first time. I have heard good things about it. I was surprised how unassuming the exterior is...so much so we drove right by it the first time. Other than etching on the door, you wouldn't even notice it. The inside was small and quaint and crowded... More

Poole's Diner is a great casual spot. We sat at the bar and had a great bar tender/waiter. He was attentive and gave great suggestions on both food and drink. The Mac N' Cheese is UNBELIEVABLE and just as tasty as leftovers. It gets crowed very quickly so try to get there early. We went on a Sunday for dinner... More

Kept hearing about Poole's so we met some friends there for dinner a couple weeks back. Very casual, chalkboard menu on the wall that changes daily. Local, fresh food. We started with the pimiento cheese as an app and it was sharp and tasty. I got the Royale, which is a 10 oz. burger only offered on Sundays. I got... More

If you are in the area you have to have dinner at Pooles. If hard to describe the place, its an old time diner, so most of the seats are counter seats. They don't take reservations but we walked in at 7pm and had two counter seats almost at the same time as we got our drinks. The pimento app... More

As first time diners at Poole's, I read the reviews and took the advice of arriving shortly after they opened the bar and got on the list for a dining table. We arrived about 5:15 on a Friday night and it was already very full with people in a very small restaurant. We waited in line for drinks, bought a... More

Having landed a few hours before from London (UK), we were keen to eat early and set off on foot from the Oakwood historic district to discover downtown Raleigh. Taking as many sites as possible, we walked by a series of eateries though keen to spot the three Ashley Christensen places that we had read about in guidebooks and on-line.... More

The food is incredible. Portion size is big. Menu changes often to offer what is fresh from area. The mac & cheese is awesome! Served as an appetizer or side. Restaurant a bit on the loud side but the service is great. The store front isn't much to look at but don;t be deceived. This place is amazing!
