What a nice convenient surprise.

Located just half a block from the Red Hat Amphitheater, they have an interesting menu. Home cooking with an adventurous flair. Slightly loud inside only tells the tale of diners enjoying themselves.

This was my first visit, and a return visit for my daughter and her boyfriend, who moved away a year ago. Everything was as they remembered, which is a good thing! We all shared appetizers, and the man in our group ordered an entree. All was delicious, and the portions large. We had plenty to take home!

Have heard about Pooles Diner & finally was able to go there. All menus are written on a blackboard & seating is diner style or at minimalistic tables. Wine by the glass selection was small but excellent & unique. Beer & cocktail selections were also creative. Menu was not large. Wait staff was excellent. Food was good but not excellent.... More

We are locals (from nearby Cary), and when we go to Poole's Diner, we call it "going to Ashley's" (as if we know her, and are her personal friends). We always feel energized by the atmosphere there. Admittedly, it is not the place for an intimate tete-a-tete, as it can be a bit loud. But, to us, that is all... More

People say that Poole's is a diner, but I guess I would call it New American. My wife had their roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and delicious pan gravy. I had the leg of lamb meatloaf with sautéed asparagus and we split the best macaroni and cheese that I have ever had. It was delicious. People complaining about the noise... More

I Know this is supposed to be the greatest downtown place, and I like the others in the corp (e.g. Beasleys) but this place just doesn't do it for me. Went one time and the ac units were broken so that did not help the entire experience but its very noisy and its like down home food but prices and... More

This is a great place to go!!!!! Chalk board menu local flavor a and the food is outstanding. The mac n cheese was out of this world and portion was enough for 4 people so be sure and share it. Lamb meatloaf was one of a kind. I'll go back next time I'm in Raleigh!!!!

Poole's is an eclectic place. Pleasant wines by the glass, craft cocktails shaken, and a handful of food specials written on chalkboards hung on the wall. And it's a diner, complete with semicircular counters and bar stools. The food is sourced locally which ensures freshness, but it's the work of the chefs that transform freshness into magic. On my last... More
