Seems to be the place to go to dinner for the younger set. It was great food. I had soft shell crab for the first time ever and found it delicious served on a bed of locally grown garden veggies. My wife had the Mac&cheese. The mac & Cheese was "the best I have ever eaten." The place is a... More

Since the menu changes frequently, the things we ordered are most likely not available all the time. I will say the watermelon salad was outstanding and the mac & cheese was amazing. I had a great fish dish while others at my table had short ribs and pork tenderloin and soft shell crab. For dessert we had a peach cobbler.... More

My dad has been in the food business for almost 40 years now and his direct quote was, "This is the best meal I have had in a restaurant in a long time." Now THAT is saying something. Our table was mesmerized by the mac and cheese. Our timing was perfect since one person at the table had the last... More

Poole's diner is a Raleigh gem. It looks like your typical low key diner but it is very deceiving. The food is outrageously delicious and expertly served. You won't believe it until you have the first mouthful. OMG. Excellent service and quality. Highly recommend it. No reservations so plan carefully.

A friend of ours moved to Raleigh about a year ago (we're from DC). He looked over a number of places and suggested this (he knows we're foodies and he had never been.) It's a renovated diner with no reservations. But who cares? Get there at 5 for the 5:30 seating or 5:30 for the 6 or so seating. We... More

Been living here in raleigh for the longest time and never came here. Was treated to dinner with some friends and the food was delicious. Very innovative cuisine comparable to the big cities. Actually i just found out the chef here just won a James Beard award-amazing!!

Poole's Diner is a highly regarded spot -- it's chef just won a James Beard award. But, one has to put up with a fair bit to get the really good food. First, there are no reservations. At times it can be a decent wait to be seated, although that was not the case on this visit. What we immediately... More
